Looks like this city owned public park has a no firearms rule on its website. I wonder if it's posted?
Anyone plan to contact them to remind them of state preemption?
River Legacy Park - Firearms Prohibited?

It's not posted 30.06. It's a city owned park, and a great one to visit. I go there often and carry every time I go. Being in the Trinity River bottoms, it's not unusual to see critters out there of all flavors, so if you're on the hiking/bike trails carrying is a good idea.
Did you see the video shot by a bicyclist of a bob cat and coyote almost getting into a fight? They were within 3 or 4 feet of the 2 bicyclists and paid them no attention and just walked by. Incredible.

I think it is less of a "NO CHL" thing and more of a "Don't think that you can come here to hunt deer, dove, rabbits, squirrels or anything else... and this is not a firing range."

So that's what they meant. I guess I didn't understand their shorthand.
Seriously though, I may call them to inquire...just out of curiosity.

I don't think there is anything wrong with what's posted, but it doesn't apply to CHL holders. Unless you are extremely lucky and talk to somebody who understands that pre-emption in Texas that means Municipal gov'ts can't pass enforceable laws more restrictive than State Law, you'll probably just get into an unproductive argument/debate.phil1979 wrote:So that's what they meant. It's kinda like a State park I go to. It doesn't say you can't have one, but you can't display or fire it.
(d) Arms and Firearms. It is an offense for any person to display or discharge an arm or firearm in a state park, unless:
the person is participating in a public hunting activity within the state park that has been authorized by written order of the director so long as the person is in compliance with the applicable public hunting rules and regulations; or
the person has been authorized by written order of the director.
So I guess if you defend yourself in a state park you're in trouble.
