New Job

Post by T3hK1w1 »

Well, it's official-I have been offered a position as a hunting guide for the Mota Bonita Lodge on the King Ranch! :cheers2: :hurry: So, pretty soon I will be packing my bags and moving down there. They have FREE AMMO for employees!!! Not to mention they let you hunt as well... Only downside is the no handguns policy  But that's ok, since I can OC a .44 mag lever-action

Well congratulations!

So uh... are there fringe benefits for visiting friends?

I do find it a little bizarre that they prohibit you from carrying a handgun. That just don't make no sense.

44 Mag Lever action???? Put it in a thigh holster, cut the stock and barrel, flair the lever, and you have the ideal concealed firearm. Seems like I saw this on a tv western years ago.

Seriously, sounds like a perfect job. How long have you been working to get it. I'd love to be able to do something like that.

Actually, that was a chopped and channeled .44-40 , model '92, got the studio in hot water with BATF, the idiot carrying it could not use it anyway, all the ammo in his belt was .45-70!

No handgun? No problem! That's assuming that full auto AR's are welcome...

Would that have been Steve McQueen in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wanted:_Dead_or_Alive ?
Zoe Washburn in Firefly used the same (model, I mean) in Firefly:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoe_Washburne (you can sort of see it on her leg in the pic)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winchester_Model_1892

Isn't there a tax-stamp you can get to be able to legally posess a short-barrelled rifle?

ETA(Edited to add): wikipedia's entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mare%27s_Leg states:
"Such a cut-down rifle—or any rifle with a barrel length less than 16 inches—is actually illegal without special permits, but it is not illegal to make an exact copy from scratch as a “lever action pistol."

what's the legality on something like this?

FETA (further edited to add) get a gander at this:
