Re: WTS: Kel-Tec P3AT (price drop for CHL)
If you have a CHL, I am willing to let it go for $215. You must also promise to not sell it to anybody without an ID (DL, CHL, passport, or military ID). FTF in Dallas/Plano/Addison/Carrollton area only at this price. Otherwise, price is still $250.

deleted post, this was a parody that caused other forum members to mistakenly believe that was the gun I was selling.
I am selling a Kel-Tec P3AT which fires .380. Repeat .380.

So you're saying that even after you sell it, you don't give up control over it?drjoker wrote:If you have a CHL, I am willing to let it go for $215. That's a deal breaker for me.drjoker wrote:If you have a CHL, I am willing to let it go for $215. You must also promise to not sell it to anybody without an ID (DL, CHL, passport, or military ID). FTF in Dallas/Plano/Addison/Carrollton area only at this price. Otherwise, price is still $250.
Question: IF you sell it, I'm interested in how you plan to monitor that condition?
Would you be willing to to pay $100 a year to the new owner to keep that type of control?

Re: WTS: Kel-Tec P3AT (price drop for CHL)
I'm not in a hurry to sell, I have never sold a firearm to anybody except for friends and family before because I don't want to sell to a felon so I have to see an ID, preferably a CHL. If you sell to a person who uses the gun in a crime, The BATF will come to your house and knock, then trample all over your house in dirty jackboots, breaking stuff, if you are the original purchaser of the new firearm. The NRA had an article on this, saying you have a right to refuse a search. However, they might get a bogus warrant from a judge who's in their pocket or they might not need a warrant if it falls under the very unpatriotic patriot act.
There is no "firearms registry", but what they do when they get a gun involved in a crime is call the manufacturer to see which dealer the gun was sold to. Then, they go to the dealer and ask to see the paperwork to see the identity and address of the owner of the gun. Then, they go knock on said original owners' house. So, I will sell it to you at a discount if you'd also promise that when you sell it, be sure to at least get have a peek at the buyer's ID to make sure that the buyer is not a felon. A criminal will want to remain anonymous and not show you their driver license. They can cover their address with their thumb and only show their name or DL number. (it is best to have the CHL of course, but not everyone has one) When you sell it, have the buyer make the same promise to you that you made to me so that the chain of non-felon buyers is not broken. Thanks.
In addition to only selling to someone with a government issued ID (preferably a CHL), I would also go by "feel". I've bought guns from other forum members before and they all told me that they would refuse to sell to someone that they had a bad feeling about. Always trust your gut feeling. That is your subconscious telling you that something is wrong or "off". For example, if the prospective buyer muzzled me with the gun, I would not sell to him/her. I would definitely "feel" something is very wrong with that person.

I'd have to run the numbers, but I would be willing to bet that statistically you have as good a chance of winning the lottery as you do of the scenario above.

Really not a bad idea. I would also be getting the buyers information if I made a private sale along with a bill of sale with signatures. Better to be safe than sorry.
After the sale I wouldn't worry about it. You at least have to confirm age unless it's obvious.

I understand how you want to sell it, and I don't even disagree with the idea of asking to see ID. My point was whether or not you can have a realistic expectation of controlling how the next owner goes about selling it.

Re: WTS: Kel-Tec P3AT (price drop for CHL)
It is by the honor system. I bought 2 guns from other forum members. One guy let me shoot the gun at his gun club and then we talked over a cup of coffee about various things. At the end of the conversation, he said that he thought I was a good guy and would sell the gun to me. He did not ask to see my ID. He said he trusted his gut instinct to judge character more than some laminated piece of paper. He sold me the gun at below market value because he trusted me.
Another guy on this forum sold me a gun and asked to see my DL. He then wrote everything down before selling the gun to me. This is a bit extreme. Even I wouldn't do that. However, I agreed to this because the deal was too good to pass up. It was way under market value.
I'm only asking to see your government issued ID AND you may keep your thumb over the address. I need to see either your name OR id number. I don't need both.
I just need to be reasonably certain that Jackbooted Nazis won't barge into my house breaking stuff. That's all.

Well it is your gun and you can sell it to whoever you want with any conditions you want. But once someone has it you do not own it. If the buyer sells it down the road years later or if it gets stolen there isnt much you can do. I will say that I have done my share of buying, selling, and trading here with members (and made some great friends in the process) and have never worried.
I keep track of what I have sold and to who and I do not sell to non CHL holders

Re: WTS: Kel-Tec P3AT (price drop for CHL)
I've sold a number of firearms to individuals at gun shows that I didn't know from Adam and I'm sure those firearms have been sold numerous times since. Surprisingly no federal agents have busted through my door to search my house.
Unless you live in NY, Life isn't a tv show. There is no gun registration and most guns change ownership frequently. Just look at how many of us on the forum buy a gun today and two months from now decide to start another project or find something else we want more. I can't count how many "new in box" posts I've seen lately.
Point is, unless the weapon is used to kill 20 kids the police aren't wasting the time of tracing that weapon back to the original owner.

Well, I did read that article in the "National Rifleman" (NRA mag). I'm sure it happens, they wouldn't make it up. It doesn't happen to you until it happens to you. I'm not taking any chances.
