Ruger LC9

I bought a Ruger LC9 shortly after they came out. Maybe I jumped the gun (sorry) but after handling a friend's LC9s, I realized just how much watching the hammer slowly sink before rising to fire during the 1/4 mile 16lb trigger pull, I felt the need to do something.
I purchased a Galloway Precision trigger kit, SS guide rod, 20lb recoil spring and traction grip overlay.
Now, between the weather and health issues, I've got a rebuild with no shooting time.
Anyone else been down this road ?
Happy with the results ?

I did the same thing with my LC380. Very happy.

When I upgraded mine Galloway had the hammer upgrade and the trigger bar. I liked the small difference in the release the hammer gave but not the LOOOOOOONNNNGGGG reset of the trigger bar so I went back to the stock trigger bar. I also removed the mag safety and between the two it made it a nice DAO gun. I carry it regularly when I cant quite conceal my M&Pc. I did add the SS guide rod just for grins...

If I was going to go the Ruger LC9 route, I'd stick with the LC9s. It has a much shorter trigger pull and reset.

However, I also shot the LC9s side by side with the S&W Shield, and I liked the Shield trigger way better than the LC9s.

Now I'd like to try shooting the mythical Glock 43 (mythical in that I have never seen one in person at a store or range).

I have the Ruger version of the Glock 19 - the SR9C. It really is a fine gun. A little bigger than the LC9, but it comes with a small mag for carry and a 17 rounder for reload. I have had several people recommend the LC9 Pro model. As if I really need any more guns!

I have a LC9s Pro and I am happy to see Ruger produce a trigger as great as this. Mine is stock. The only thing I did was buy a couple of Italian made LC9 factory mags. Mine came with a USA made one and its fine. I picked up two factory USA mades ones from Gander and returned then. I cleaned them up but they caused all kinds of feeding issues.

My LC9s Pro is a keeper. I have a lot of tiny nines but the LC9s Pro is one of my favorites. Its also the least expensive handgun I have. Thats what I like about it too. Its not expensive but its not cheap (as in quality)

That's the thing about buying guns as an investment... you have to wait 200 years to find out if it paid off!

But, why worry about resale value? If you like it - keep it in your EDC rotation. The only problem comes around if you don't like it, unfortunately.

Luckily, I was an early LC-9 buyer... Cheaper than Dirt in FW happened to have a sale on 'em, and I picked one up from them, and turned it around for what I paid for it at a gun show two weeks later. That long trigger action was something I just couldn't get used to. I now own, and carry, an LC-9s.

I purchased an early LC9 for my wife, and she couldn't handle the long trigger pull. We also went with the Galloway kit, but it was one of their earlier kits and you had to purchase the trigger separately. We had issues with light-strikes, and my wife still didn't care for the trigger (it was better, but not enough), so we ended up getting her a Shield (which she loves). As for the LC9, I put the stock trigger and bar back on, thinking we would try a trade-in, but then decided to keep it as a BUG for me. I put the Galloway bar back on, but it broke in the process. So, I'm back to the the (mostly) stock LC9 but with the the Galloway trigger. I can't see spending $100 for the complete new Galloway kit for a BUG; from what I have read, I would rather spend the money on the LC9s Pro. Oh, and I also removed the magazine safety.

FYI, my EDC is a SR9c which I absolutely love.
