SOLD: PRICE LOWERED - Tavor SAR TSB17-9 9mm DFW

Post by QB »

SOLD

Relisting my Tavor as the buyer wanted to change the payment method/procedures. Lowered price.

TAVOR SAR FDE TSB17-9 9mm. Purchased new, never fired except factory tested. I purchased this rifle for my sister to use but it is too heavy for her. I have the exact rifle and switched it over to shoot left handed (no extra parts necessary) and it's a GREAT gun to shoot, I just don't need two of them any more.

Advertised as used only because I am the first retail buyer. This rifle is in "like new" condition, unpackaged only to take pictures.

STOCK/FRAME: Synthetic Stock
CAPACITY: 32 round 9mm
# OF MAGS: 1 32-round factory Magazine
BARREL: 17"
OVERALL LENGTH: 26.125"
RATE-OF-TWIST: 1-in-10"
SIGHTS: Integral Folding BUIS w/Tritium front
Full length Picatinny top rail

PM responded to.........thanks for the offer. Only trades I "might" be interested in would be a Tavor 5.56 Left Handed 16" model NIB but don't really even need that. Would prefer an outright sale.

Thanks

Where could I find a left handed 9mm model at? I've never even gotten to see any Tavor's around San Antonio before, or maybe I just missed them. I am in the market for a 9mm carbine, but shooting rifles left handed has made it a pain.

The 9mm Tavor comes in Black and FDE Right Handed Configuration from the factory. There is NO factory configured left handed 9mm model. Instead, you buy the right handed 9mm and merely convert the right handed to left handed. There are NO parts that you'd have to purchase to convert the right handed 9mm Tavor to a left handed 9mm. IWI provides a pdf file that shows how to do the conversion.

I have a 9mm Tavor that I converted to left handed and it was relatively easy (and I'm a newbie to Tavors). I love shooting my Tavor 9mm now that's it's converted to left hand operation. It functioned 100% last night so I couldn't be happier.

Note: you need to remove the barrel to reverse a little part that's inside so you'll need a barrel wrench to unlock the barrel (they cost $9.99 from Bullpup Armory). Some guys unlock their Tavor using a flathead and pliers but I sure wouldn't advise doing that. It takes a lot of force using the little tool to unlock the barrel and buying the tool is the way to go. The part you have to flip flop is so the charging rod can go on the other side.

Here's my 9mm Tavor converted to LH:

If you are looking for a 5.56 Tavor they make a black left handed model but no other LH factory model in different colors. You can convert a right handed 5.56 Tavor to left handed by purchasing a left handed bolt and then converting all the other items to left handed operation. If you only buy the left handed bolt you'll need to headspace your barrel properly (or send it the rifle to IWI and they will do it). You can also buy a left handed barrel/bolt that is already matched and/or a full left handed conversion kit.

The tan is definitely my favorite color, as it matches most of my person gear and kit. I think I would prefer to buy the already set Left handed model as to not mess anything up. Flipping a 9mm doesn't require adjusting the head space, does it? I'd much rather prefer to leaving that to an armorer.

I'm going to use some of my Google Capital to find me a Tavor! ;-)

Just to clarify........there is NO left handed factory model 9mm Tavor.......you MUST buy the right handed and convert it. No headspacing required as the 9mm is a blowback design, it's not like the 5.56 caliber. During the conversion you (1) reverse the ejector, (2) take a few pins out and reverse the extractor and extractor hole plug (3) flip flop the cocking bar pin and of course move the charging handle to the other side......there is a pdf file that explains (1) - (3) and the manual talks about swapping the charging handle (this is where you'll need to remove the barrel).

I had a Beretta CX4 Storm when they first came out. I sold it long ago (I churn guns a lot) to purchase something else. I don't recall having any issues with it. I'm sure you can go to the Beretta Forum and find out exactly what is involved in the conversion. Can't remember if the actual ejection was changeable or if it was just the controls....for some reason I thought it was just the controls but I could be totally wrong.

Are ya ever in the Dallas area? You could try mine out.......mine is pictured above with a different buttstock (Manticore curved, reduces LOP $70) and a MI Ejection Port cover that supposedly traps the gases better than the stock cover (but not sure it does)......and the IWI Savvy Sniper QD sling.

Was going to, but we keep postponing trips to see my in-laws up there. Work always interferes with those plans for some reason. ;-)

And I read the Tavor site, it confirms what you said. Only one factory left handed model in 5.56 16in.

I've sent this to my BIL to see if he's interested. He's also local.
