Well
I am DIFFERENT.
I am ALL for the clip draw. I have used them for about 4 years. I love them. I have had them on my 1911; J Frame; and my Glocks. I would never hesitate to use them again. BUT, I am one who carried "mexican" carry in the early 80's when in LE and I still do it sometimes.

Clip draw or Mexican carry is completely safe with any semi auto so long as no round is chambered. The so called Israeli draw seems to work well for civilian carry. If you can't see trouble coming in time enough to charge the weapon, you are probably had anyway. LEO situation is completely different, of course. In the event of a gun grab, you may gain critical time in which to bring your BUG or knife to bear witness while a hopefully confused grabber fumbles with your gun after it failed to fire when he pulled the trigger. You can't get a cleaner hit or cut than on a perp who grabbed your own gun and tried to shoot you with it.

I know I will be chastised, but I am a big boy. I carried a 1911 cocked and locked with one in the pipe mexican carry for 7 years while working narcotics. I still have my large rump. I have also mexican carried revolvers. I don't know about others. It probably is an unsafe practice, but I am still around. I would not suggest for others if they are accident prone, but HEY for me I made it. I do not do it much today, except for the Clipdraw thing, but I would not hesitate. It is an individual opinion and you have decide what is good for you.

I think that a DAO presents its own issues with clip or Mexican draw.

Have you eaten there? Here's the latest review. http://www.guidelive.com/portal/page?_p ... m_id=11102
It's the only drugstore I know of in the area that still has a lunch counter. Of course Joe's Coffee Shop which is another Irving hangout. And then There's Griff's.

Not Yet. Each time me and my wife have drove over there you can't get in. Joes is one my favorites. I am going to make the drug store I am just going to do it when it is not rush hour. A couple of the IPD guys eat there a lot and they are the ones who told me about it when I first moved here.

Thanks for all the good info on the Clip draw. I have a Forbus paddle and a Blackhawk leather holster. Was just looking for something different. The forbus is not as concelable as I like. The Blackhawk is ok, but not quite what I want. Again thanks for the pros and cons of the clip draw.
