Another 30.06 Sign...Gone

Post by Vol Texan »

It's so easy to open this forum and see the doom and gloom discussion about how businesses are going to start posting even more with the new laws...

But I'd like to share with you a better story.

The Wells Fargo location at 1160 Dairy Ashford (near Dairy Ashford and I-10 on the western end of Houston) has had an invalid sign (using the old 4413(20ee) language) for some time. Being an unenforceable sign, it has never meant much to me. For one thing, it's the only Wells Fargo location in Houston that I've seen ANY gun sign on, so I'm sure it has been a vestige of a prior age on this one building, and not a statement of the overall corporate intent. Secondly, I rarely go into that location, so I don't have much of an opportunity to ignore it anyway.

However, last week, i needed to run into the bank, and I chose that one for convenience. Much to my surprise, the sign was GONE. It looked like new glass had been installed, and nothing had been put in its place.

I just thought we all needed a happy story on a Monday morning amidst all the back-and-forth of OC vs. not-OC on the other message threads.

They had that glass shot out, so they had to replace it. They're waiting for the new 30.06 and 30.07 signs to be available.

Just kidding! My bank has a sign that says ball caps and sunglasses are not allowed. Also one about unlicensed carry is not allowed. Or was that the liquor store? :biggrinjester:

I'm guessing here, but I'd guess you use Comerica Bank. My office is in a building with a Comerica, and they have the same sign in their lobby.

But nothing that prohibits me from CC...

Thanks for sharing this one. Indeed a nice change.

Now if I could only convince my gym to do the same....

Easy...leave your gym for another that doesn't ask you to disarm.

Be courteous, let them (the management, not the desk clerk) know why you're planning on leaving. If they change their policy (likely not, based only on your individual feedback, but if enough folks would do so...), then all is OK. If not, then your new gym does what you want anyway.

I left a credit union for just this reason. Have they changed their policy? No. But my new bank (see my OP) doesn't ask me to disarm.

Honestly, I love my gym. Im probably violating some forum rule by going into a posted location but its not a deal breaker. I've said my piece, they understand but its a major national chain so j don't see it changing. Small price to pay for the amenities.

My B of A has no signs ( I go in regularly) and my local Ace Hardware has the "We welcome CHL'er" sign. Other than that all the restaurants we frequent have the "unlicensed carry is illegal" signs. I don't think I've ever seen a valid 30.06 sign outside of the one at my old work location.

I love this town. :thumbs2:
