Slide/Frame Mfg. Question
I am just curious - is a slide and frame that is investment cast as opposed to forged or machined from bar stock the least expensive way to manufacture a handgun? And if it is, what would be the downside of owning a handgun made by this process? Thanks
I think there is little difference in the three methods of manufacture all will produce high quality firearms and all can produce junk. The quality of the metal and it's hardness etc. and, the quality of the fitting of the parts has a greater bearing on the life of your gun. As far as cost of the product, investment castings are more economical than machining and forging.
