Friendly fire shooting of CHL

I read that as flechero saying the likeliness of the event of someone

1) Having a CHL
2) Having a weapon
3) NEEDING to use said weapon
4) Having LEOs show up while the need for using that weapon still exists

is so remote, that we don't come up with reports of a CHL actively using a weapon when an LEO arrives on scene.

What are the statistical odds that you will ever need your weapon? Now compound that with an Officer showing up or already being there as you are in the process of using your weapon.... Chance are much better playing powerball.

Tell the people worried about this happening that I'll happily take my chances, as my luck isn't so good that I expect the police to already be there if I get into a serious bind!

You obviously believe the potential exist for you to need a weapon to defend yourself or you wouldn't have a CHL and wouldn't waste your time on this forum.
So, you win the mugging lottery and get the jump on a BG by pulling your weapon. BG puts hands in the air. What's next? Do you put your weapon away and hope the guy behaves while you call 911? Do you let him go before police get there so he can do it to someone else? How does this play out that you do not have your weapon aimed at the individual when police arrive? I assume you do not carry handcuffs or other restraint devices that would allow you to secure them until authorities arrive. So, what's the plan?

However, your questions are valid. And depending on how it played out, lots of different answers could be given.

Thanks but that really isn't the type of scenario I was thinking. Considering the guy pulled his gun and aimed it at the officer according to the affidavit. I was thinking more of a cop mistaking a good guy for a bad guy and shooting him.

I couldn't either. Contrary to what some think, it just doesn't seem to happen much, if at all.

I was in a meeting the other day and there were a few that had very strong opinions about not allowing open carry, police on CHI friendly fire being a significant danger and people getting down and remaining where they areare during an active shooter event. Needless to say, it was an interesting and frustrating discussion to witness. Many had very strong opinions based emotion and feelings and little on data and facts.
