Browning BuckMark?

Great little shooter, though mine doesn't have a fiber front. And, before .22 ammo became scarcer and more expensive (remember when it was only two cents a round as recently as 2008?), a fabulous way to get live-fire target time at a very low cost.

I've always felt a .22 handgun is on the minimum-must-have list. I sold a Ruger several years, but am keeping the BuckMark. My only gripe is that they don't make it as easy to do a full field strip as they could...and Browning says they don't recommend it. Yeah, right. But then, with the Ruger, a rubber mallet was almost a requirement.

You probably know this already but you will get some failure to fire with 22LR ammo unlike most centerfire pistol ammo. I have fewer problems with this with my Buckmark than some of my other 22 pistols, but you will get one occasionally even with the Buckmark.

Mines seems to like higher velocity ammunition and it hates Winchester white box. I received a 333 round box of it as a gift and my buckmark had more than a few FTEs. Never had that problems with higher velocity rounds or with anything CCI has.

Yep; my favorite has always been those handy little plastic bricks of 100 rounds of CCI Mini-Mag. The 40 gr bullet at 1,235 fps is reliable and accurate. Too, I prefer a plated bullet; it's not that it's much more work to clean lead out of that tiny barrel, but it is a little more work. Wish I had more CCIs in the locker than I do; reminds me I need to swing by Academy and Gander tomorrow to see if they have any in stock.

I just bought one today. It's the Buckmark Camper, but has the DX Cocobolo grip and the TruGlo front fiber sight. Apparently they don't make this model any longer. The serial number shows it's a 2008 model, but is new in the box from a firearms dealer.

Who has one of these and what's your opinion? I think I got a good deal on it.

I have the exact same Buckmark that you have plus I also have this a 10" barrel Browning Silhouette which is just a big Buckmark. They are great guns and my 9 year old grandson does great with the Silhouette with a red dot. Not sure why picture rotates when clicked.

I always test with different ammo, including a variety of velocities. The Buckmarks ate CCI MiniMags, Remington Standard velocity, some 45 -50 year old Peters HV with no issues. Federal standard and HV also performed flawlessy. I loaded some subsonic Remington and CCI and it would eject them, but failed to feed a new round. CCI CB Longs wouldn't actuate the slide. The only problem I had in the Buckmarks was with the Remington standard velocity. I had three or four failure to fire and my daughter had the same in hers. Tried each cartridge at least one repeat strike with FTF so I know it was the ammo. The said ammo was a 5000 round case lot purchased from CMP sales.

I have one that I bought new in 1988. It's fun to shoot, good to get someone started that has never shot a handgun before, and after almost 30 years it still looks good, shoots good, and has never had any issues. I can't think of any brand of ammo that it doesn't like. Maybe the best handgun purchase I ever made.

Meant to give an update, but failed to do so.

Anyway, I am thoroughly impressed with the Buck Mark. Shoots like a dream. Very smooth and almost no perceived recoil. Needless to say, I love it!!
