Browning BuckMark?

Post by Keith B »

I just bought one today. It's the Buckmark Camper, but has the DX Cocobolo grip and the TruGlo front fiber sight. Apparently they don't make this model any longer. The serial number shows it's a 2008 model, but is new in the box from a firearms dealer.

Who has one of these and what's your opinion? I think I got a good deal on it.

I have had my eye on one for quite a while. If you don't like it send it south to Texas. :thumbs2:

I bought a Buckmark Hunter around Thanksgiving. Biggest difference is the barrel length (7 1/4" on the Hunter vs 5 1/2" on the Camper). It is incredibly fun to shoot and is now my go-to gun when introducing people to shooting because of the light recoil and ease of shooting. You will love the camper! Such a handsome firearm with the wood grips.

I bought it for a loaner during classes and also just to have to shoot. I didn't really have a target .22, so thought this would maybe serve the dual purpose.

Great feedback so far. Keep it coming!! :tiphat:

I don't have that exact model but I love my buckmark. It's great for teaching new shooters.

We have three Camper models but not the particular one you bought. It's hard to keep up with the models since there are so many variations. They are great shooters and reliable. I prefer Buckmark to Rugers, but Rugers are fine pistols.

I like mine. I do like the grips on yours. The front sight would be nice also. I had to paint the front back edge of the front sight so I could see it on the standard model. I use fingernail polish. Bright yellow, and it looks good. To me anyway. A good shooter for sure.

I will chime in and agree with the others. I do not have that model, but I love the Buckmark as a plinker and for teaching people to shoot. My kids also loved it as they learned how to shoot pistols.

This is the model I own. It is the Camper URX. I bought it at Academy for about $320+tax. I've used it to teach my younger brother, wife, son and nephew to shoot. It's a very good pistol. It loves CCI ammunition, especially mini mags.

I don't have your model but I have had a Browning Buckmark for years. When I got back into shooting after 9/11, the Buckmark was one of the first three guns I bought. I have put thousands of rounds through it and taught all my kids how to shoot with it as well as a few others. It just runs and runs and runs.

I have had to replace the recoil springs and buffer a couple of times as well as replacing a couple of lock washers. All of that is just normal maintenance.

I don't have it anymore, but I used to own one. It was the most accurate and comfortable .22 I've ever shot. Never had any failures of any kind... and I shot LOTS of rounds through it. Enjoy it. Honestly, I'm a little jealous.

I have a really old one--guessing I have had it 15-20 years (or more). My wife gave it to me for Christmas one year.
I have plenty of rounds thru it with zero problems (other than finding 22lr).

You will enjoy yours.

It's been years, but I remember shooting one my friend owned. It was a pure pleasure with very little recoil. I remember it being well-balanced and a nice looking firearm. I think you are going to love your acquisition.
