I personally thought that Gunny and Chris should have been in the elimination challenge that featured Jaime and Ashley. If so, I doubt Chris would have even been in the final four given that it was a pistol competition and given Gunny's proficiency with the pistol.

Clearly the gang of four rigged a number of the elimination competitions. Given that, I am not sure even the best four shots were in the final much less that Chris was the top shot.

Having said that, they all could shoot far better than I can and I have to say I am a little in all of all of their abilities.
You can read Jamie's bio here. He is obviously qualified for, and has done, other things in the Navy. You can see all their bios here:

They used skeet shooting as one of the elimination challenges in season 1.
I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

You've never heard of the "ships of the desert"? :eek6
Per his own explanation, he was attached to an EOD unity. There is lots of EOD activity in the sandbox.

Really? then why did pretty-boy announcer say that was the first time they used shotguns? Not saying you're wrong, you're probably right and very good chance pretty boy was wrong. I'm just the dolt who took what he said on the show as fact :banghead:

A lot of good points. I'd forgotten about the specifics leading up to the Jaime vs. Ashley elimination.

Just reinforces my belief that they need to take the "vote him off the island" concept out of this show. This is not some stupid made-up survival show. These are real guns and real marksman. Make the two elimination contestants each week determined by the results in the main competition. Keep it team based, so that even if the worst shot of the day is on the winning team, he' safe because his team won. Then pick the worst two performances on the losing team to battle for "who goes home" in elimination challenge.

If you really want to leave in the stupid "drama" then make some new rule that a team can vote a member off their team or something and send them to the other team .... plenty of room for juvenile side stories without ruining the spirit of the real competition.

After all, why does the "Top Shot" also need to be the most likeable who gets along with everyone and doesn't get voted off the show by cliques of fellow competitors? There's a name for most likeable in other forms of competition - it's called "Miss Congeniality" ... let the best shooters shoot.

The EOD explanation makes sense. They have lots of IEDs in Afganistan.

I wouldn't even care so much if they left that in if they would just use more footage of people actually shooting things instead of cutting back and forth to footage of the guy shooting with the targets not visible and slow motion stock shots of targets getting hit.

That and maybe have the host record the commentary as a voice over instead of awkwardly shouting at people in an overblown accent while they are trying to shoot in a competition.
