Oh come on people!

Post by jmorris »

Can you actually be that......arrrrrg!

Two nights ago we had a rash of car burglaries in the neighborhood. At least a dozen cars were rifled and two were stolen. Among the items taken were a man's wallet and a handgun.

Now here's the good part.

(You all know what's coming don't you.)

None of the cars were broken into, they were all unlocked. And two evidently had the keys in them.

The only thing that would have made it any easier is if they left it with a tank full of gas.

What part of "lock your car, take your keys" don't people get?

All you have to do is sit back and watch people going about their everyday life and be honest with yourself. Most are idiots.

I've often wondered whether it is really because the synapses don't fire correctly in their brain or whether it is generations removed from the results of Dawin's predictions. My guess is that people among the Native Americans who didn't pay attention to their surroundings didn't survive very long. Today our environments are such a cocoon that wraps up even the least observant unless they stumble into the deep woods or the wrong part of a big city late at night. They don't connect their actions (leaving the keys in a car over night) with the potential loss of the vehicle because they haven't had a vehicle taken from them before. When I was messing with home burglar alarms, I was told that 80% of the customers for them had been burglarized. The other 20% figured out that having one might be a good idea without having their stuff stolen

I think it all comes down to risk management. People started assessing the risk of needing to defend themselves after the pictures of the riots last Summer and now guns and ammo are flying off the shelves. My wife laughs at my always keeping our gas tanks more than half full. I don't need to face an emergency where I have to get someplace in a hurry and have an empty gas tank to see why that would be a bad idea. We all have a risk profile that we use. Some people got theirs from a Disney movie filled with unicorns.

If you consider yourself to be of average intelligence, then half of everyone you meet are stupider than you are. That fact has helped me deal with the idiots I meet daily. They just can’t be fixed.
Gun control is like stopping drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to drive.

:cheers2:

True fact. Half of all people are below average intelligence.

Houses around here have large driveways, but lots of people prefer to park their expensive, shiny new cars on the narrow streets. Rude and dumb at the same time, but stupidity is it's own reward.

If IQ and hard work are two key ingredients in success, the stupidity and laziness are key ingredients in failure.

My brother lives in NE San Antonio. When he drove to my house he locked his car right after he got out. Obviously a habit.

Covid-19 cases were up because more people were tested, if more IQ tests were given stupidity would be up.
