The previous owners of my property left a "Burn Pile" it has alot of aluminum cans, I was thinking of maybe melting them down and pouring them into ingots, does anybody have an idea where I could get what I need to do this with?
Government, like fire is a dangerous servant and a fearful master

Re: Foundry
Make sure they are dry first or you heat them up slowly. Don’t get a crucible going and just drop them in. You can get a steam explosion if you drop them in a pre heated crucible and there's moisture in the can.
In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.
Re: Foundry
They might have more value as a can alloy than it would have as unidentified aluminum ingots.

Re: Foundry
That may be right, but I can tell you that cans have miniscule value. A couple or three garbage bags of aluminum cans is like $1.50.Liberty wrote: Mon Apr 26, 2021 11:12 am They might have more value as a can alloy than it would have as unidentified aluminum ingots.

The amount of energy you put into melting them down probably exceeds the value of the ingot. Might be a fun project but unlikely to be a moneymaker.

My favorites are the ones pouring molten aluminum on fireant mounds.
