It's unlawful for a felon to possess body armor. I can't remember if it's just a Texas law, or a federal law.

yep i mis-read the statute

it seems a felony conviction is a no no. and its not just felonies for firearm related crimes or dv
but hey we can walk around with heavy plates on our chest and back.
seems strange, but if it floats your boat, i say go for it :biggrinjester:

You will be OK if they don't spot your ski mask, gloves, kitchen knife and roll of duct tape.

I think, at least in the Penal Code, that's dealt with entirely in the short Section 46.041.
Sec. 46.041. UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF METAL OR BODY ARMOR BY FELON. (a) In this section, "metal or body armor" means any body covering manifestly designed, made, or adapted for the purpose of protecting a person against gunfire.

(b) A person who has been convicted of a felony commits an offense if after the conviction the person possesses metal or body armor.

(c) An offense under this section is a felony of the third degree.

You're very welcome. But I went back and put "I think" in italics because I'm not a lawyer, can't spell "attorney," and didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night. On legal matters, as a source I'm strictly "look at the input but verify." ;-)

Probably missed the armor entirely, given the average person's skills even at close range.
