Chance favors the prepared. Making good people helpless doesn't make bad people harmless.
There is no safety in denial. When seconds count the Police are only minutes away.
Sometimes I really wish a lawyer would chime in and clear things up. Do we have any lawyers on this forum?

Excellent article and well worth the 5 minute read on the incident involving Mr. Pretti by Bill Shipley, 22+ years as a federal prosecutor; eight years private practice:

Re: ICE Shooting -Alex Pretti-Sig P320
That is an interesting and well written article. I am surprised that he is only the second person I have seen mention contagious shooting, which is what I believe happened in this case. I think, from what I have seen in videos and read about this case, that the officer who grabbed Pretti's gun and took it out of the area accidentally fired it while he was moving away from the fight (and despite the pistol being a 320, I think it went off because the officer squeezed the trigger without realizing it). Either this accidental shooting caused the officer's in the fight to think Pretti still had a weapon and had just fired it himself. Two of them "returned fire" at him because of this or they could have also just fired as a response to hearing the shot in what is called contagious shooting.
In either case, this is a tragedy but not an illegal shooting. And, yes, I know I am drawing conclusions from possibly very faulty data and I could very well be wrong.
