Don't know where you're located but Cheaper Than Dirt and Military Gun Supply, both in Fort Worth, usually have good prices on SKS's.
I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961

Cabela's also has them for $229, and if you do a search 'roun here for SKS you'll find this post
BobCat wrote:Had one a few years ago, terrible trigger but printed ok off the bench at very close range (50 yd) with S&B ammo. They were about $100 at that time. Had an integral 10-round mag, was told (but no personal experience) that the add-on detachable mags never were very reliable. Didn't care much for it (no real use for it) but there was nothing wrong with it. Thought my wife would find it comfortable (short stock) but she had no interest.

You can get a Yugo for $160 + shipping + FFL fee from Aim Surplus

The grenade launcher adds weight, and I think the barrel is longer than the Chinese, so it is more like a rifle than a light/short carbine.

The big draw used to be that 7.62x39 ammo was dirt cheap. No longer. Still, a shootable rifle for a couple hundred dollars is nothing to sneeze at.

Where are you located? I have one I might be willing to sell face to face. I live in Lubbock. If you're interested, let me know and I'll give you more details.

If you live close to Houston I heard Pig Supply in Highlands had them for $140. I was planning on stopping by this weekend myself. :)

I don't think they're open on weekends.....

Here is one description:

Shooters grade are just that... they should shoot, but they are not gonna win any beauty pageants. They should make a good cheap rifle to abuse and not feel really guilty about.

When MGS says, "Original Yugoslavian M59/66 SKS Rifles in very good condition. These are not shooters grade!", they are telling you that they are better than shooter's grade.
