I was just at Sportsman's Warehouse in Lewisville buying some Christmas presents for myself off a gift card. When I was checking out, the clerk told me I needed to use up the balance on my card by January 31 because they were closing. Boy was that a shock. Sportsman's is about 10 minutes from home and has been my favorite store since it opened. I got most of my reloading supplies there, particularly primers and powder. Now it is going to close. Shucks!!!
I wonder if they are going to close the other stores, there's one just outside of Austin that I like to go to. I've bought lots of ammo and components there and a couple of handguns. I'll have to make a trip up ther and ask.
I believe there is safety in numbers..
numbers like: 9, .22, .38, .357, .45, .223, 5.56, 7.62, 6.5, .30-06...
Very sad news for me too. I've sent 'em lots of my CHL students their way. And spent a small fortune there myself. The new Dick's in Flower Mound is much closer to home and our range, but not even close gun-stuff-wise.
I always wished they would build a Sportsman's Warehouse in the south Houston area. My son lives in San Antonio and I try to go to the one on the north side there whenever I visit him. They have a decent supply of reloading stuff and fair prices. Their website is crap but the store is good.
I hope they don't close the store here in Round Rock. I have bought a ton of tackle there, that you just can't find at Academy. I also bought my M&P 9c there. Great Store

I hope the store just north of Austin (Round Rock) stays open . . . I purchased my "always" gun there, and have bought a number of other items there from time to time.
The clerks have always been helpful and courteous at Sportsman's Warehouse, no matter which store I've visited.

I talked to one of their sales guys yesterday afternoon. They are closing the Lewisville store and one of the San Antonio stores, I don't know which one. Apparently these locations weren't good enough and didn't do enough business. However the sales guy was complaining that they didn't bring in merchandise aimed at Texas but rather sold the same products they sell in their stores up north, like an Eskimo ice fishing shelter. I have been ice fishing but not in Texas.
