Honest living man gunned down dropping off newspapers
Arlington, Texas early this morning news media said that David Wayne May 47 was doing his daily paper route and was apparently robbed/attacked and gunned down while dropping off newspapers at an arlington business.
God be with him and his family.
Stay vigaliant folks, the creeps of the world strike anyone anytime and have zero care for humanity.
I would assume by the looks of the guy in the video piece on wfaa.com that he's a good ol boy who probably packs but I dont know for sure.
anyone have any other info on the incident?

Re: Honest living man gunned down dropping off newspapers
This is the kind of crap that scares me every night of the week. My wife goes to work at a big named Dallas hospital every morning at 3:30 am. The thing is that she tells me often about how she usually stops 3 times a week on her way to the office for gas at either bad part of town A or bad part of town B or extremely bad part of town C. I cringe and get so darned mad when I hear her tell me that. Shes not anti gun but refuses to carry for herself. She loves me having one. Yet I tell her all the time it does no good since I dont goto work with her. She truly does not understand my feelings on this issue. Is my wife the only dumb woman out of our significat others on here.

Not so much late at night, but I've had to remind mine more than once to get off the phone and pay attention in a potentially dangerous area.scootergeek wrote:Anyone else have a complaint about a practice their spouses do out alone late late at night?

Since you are the thread starter and asked...yes I do.scootergeek wrote:

If anyone has experience with the "Over 25mph" (I believe it's 25mph anyway) automatic ,door lock feature on most newer model Jeep Cherokees, then you may know someone who relies on this instead of locking the dang thing as soon as they enter their vehicle. My vehicle on the other hand has the "in gear" autolock and I don't wait that long. That door is locked as soon as my bum hits the seat. I've caught her numerous times turning the car on, adjusting the radio, belting and driving off, I don't hear the locks until we are out of the lot most of the time as we creep through the congested areas. It's not until we hit the main road we have speed enough to engage the locks ...sigh. I will say a positive thing though (always follow up a negative with a positive you know) is that she has started walking to and from the vehicle without a cellphone to her head and she almost always has the keys out of her purse before leaving the store to reduce her time outside the vehicle distracted.
On a side note: It amazes me that upon entering the department store, she can spot an unmarked clearance/sale rack 30 aisles over, find the same exact shirt she wanted when it first came out 2 months ago but now on sale, and get a deal on a blouse because some lady got make up all over it trying it out which she ends up washing out all the same....but the most wrote things go by the wayside.
As Norm said, "Women...can't live with 'em. Pass the beer nuts." (note to females on this board...no offense was meant)

Yeah, same here. My wife works at a school, so I can somewhat understand her reluctance to carry, since she can't do it where she spends most of her time during the week, but it still makes me worry a bit.

How about you checking her gas tank every night and filling up when need be, so that she doesn't have to stop on bad parts of town. That would solve all of your worries.scootergeek wrote: My wife goes to work at a big named Dallas hospital every morning at 3:30 am. If you don't stand for something, then you will fall for anything.

And she'll be very grateful. That kind of thoughtfulness is a huge hit with wives.Lucky45 wrote:How about you checking her gas tank every night and filling up when need be, so that she doesn't have to stop on bad parts of town. That would solve all of your worries.

Ithink we're married to the same woman!scootergeek wrote:Shes not anti gun but refuses to carry for herself. She loves me having one. Seriously, my wife is exactly like yours...loves the idea of me carrying, but doesn't personally want anything to do with firearms. I love my wife and my in-laws, but I can't quite forgive my father-in-law for not making his daughter familiar with firearms. We've had the conversation and he now realizes he should have. So, in several years of marriage, I have only convinced my wife to hold a gun once!
At the risk of offending the females on the board, I think some females (and my wife is one of them) are not "equipped" to take on the role of the sheepdog...but then again, neither are more and more males

Different times, different women, different lifestyles.
I am in my late 60's, I can recall running up to either of my Grandmas, giving them a hug and banging my head on their guns in their apron pockets.
Both their houses had a shotgun or rifle by the kitchen door, none of the bunches of kids around, including the neighbor kids, ever touched one of the guns.
It could still be that way if people took care of their business.

Ya know, you could do what I do and often times in the evening run your wife's car up to the corner and get gas for her. It's safer and a sweet thing to do.scootergeek wrote: she usually stops 3 times a week on her way to the office for gas at either bad part of town A or bad part of town B or extremely bad part of town C. Edit: Just noticed the same thing already posted.
