Make sure you know what you're buying. A grip safety is not a drop in part, nor is the hammer. These parts require fitting. Even if it says "drop in" right on the package.

Wilson makes a "drop in" bevertail that does not require frame mods. The safety engagement may or may not require some work. If hammer bite is your only problem and appearence is not an issue, why not bob the hammer?

Grind off part or all of the hammer spur. Best done with a Dremmel tool.

Dremel tool, grinder w/ a mild wheel, benchtop belt sander

The trick is to shorten it so its shorter than the grip safety spur

here is a GREAT writeup on an old Argentinian 1911 called a Sistema

http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/edu39.htm <- part 2

http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/edu45.htm <- fixing hammer bite

If you pay close attention the hammer spur is very long and these are notorious for biting, he trimmed a little bit back so it wouldn't reach the grip safety spur and thus eliminated the bite

Hope that helps
