Scary Fast Draw

Post by Rokyudai »

A buddy of mine just sent this to me. It's several years old but may lend to a thread I read earlier about muscle memory/ instinctive shooting. Just thought I would post the link for those who may appreciate it. For those who may want some info. : This is the Sparrow Hitman footage.

My friend said in his email 'man, we really need to practice!' I am sure that more training is not a bad idea but the fact these guys run around with the grip safety taped, the thumb safety off, and it is shoved down the pants; I think my training will avoid this particular drill!

Should work now.....

Well, it worked today, dunno why.

anywho, the gent talking made an interesting point. guy didn't use any particular stance, just sort of a point-shooting approach. one handed, for the most part, too.

I have seen that style taught somewhere before but not with the grip safety taped down and the slide safety off. Very fast but I don't think I would want to carry that way.

The speaker, Bruce Siddle, wrote a book (Sharpening the Warrior's Edge) about combat performance under survival stress. He lays out a very good argument for "instinctive" shooting. Although a bit repetitive, I highly recommend it.

thanks
I didn't notice the safeties being off. The grip safety being "disengaged" seems kinda redundant to me. soon as you grip it, it's going to be utilized, not like it's going to add any time to your draw/fire. the thumb safety (for him) I could understand. not my cup o' tea, but I could understand it.

anyone ever notice the Real World assassins never look like Jean Reno or Pierce Brosnan??? who'd want that job? is there any job that's "like the movies?????"

While I suppose I could see some argument for taping the grip safety, what I haven't figured out is: why only one cartridge? The video notes the "Sparrow Assassins" only carried a single cartridge, in the chamber. One shot and you go to slide lock? :headscratch
