Feeling bad for my wife

Still no PIN as of July 14, 2008. Here is where I start to get angry...

I emailed DPS on June 6 and was told that my application has not been entered into the system. I decided to be patient and wait. Today I emailed my State Rep with my concerns about 90+ days and no PIN. Here was his response, kinda crappy and generic if you ask me:

"Thank you for your email. I always enjoy hearing from the people of District 31. While I am unable to respond further to your email at this time, please understand that I will keep your thoughts in mind as I represent you in the Texas Senate. If you would like a more complete response, feel free to write to me at P.O. Box 12068, Austin, TX, 78711-2068, or call any of the numbers listed above."

Emails are a bit impersonal and can easily be written the instant something irks you, but letters and phone calls take time and thought to complete, as well as a stamp or 30 minutes of your time. For that reason, if I ran a business which received customer feedback through email, phone calls, or paper mail, I know which method I'd give more attention to. The extra effort put into letters makes your concern that much more important, because it wasn't just a heat of the moment thing, but something that constantly bothered you enough to devote time and energy to. I bypassed the email option when writing my rep, senator, and governor and got a response within 3 days of putting a stamp on it. I also got a letter back from the governor's office signed by Gov. Perry himself 3 days after I got the call from DPS which his office requested for me. I got another call last Friday due to my rep getting involved.

In short, they equate how much the matter means to you with how much effort you put into telling them your thoughts.

E-mails are easy to dismiss and even easier to deny no record of the matter At hand.

I would write your House Representative, as they have fewer constituents than your Senate Representative. You will find they have much quicker actions and more personable.

Writing a letter does nothing but tie up the process for everyone else. If everyone else is taking 60 days and you are at more 100 days, then make a fuss. But that's not the case.
