Picture on my License NOT ME!

Post by MrPaul »

It's not my picture!
All my info is correct, but it isn't me in the picture nor is it my signature at the bottom! :rules:

I'll be contacting DPS on Monday morning to get this all straitened out

I contacted the local police dept and they said the info and the fact that it is in the system is more important than the picture, and as long as I have my state issued DL with me at all times (alongside the CHL) until I get the new license sent out I can carry...

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

btw it was a 75 day wait...

EDIT: CHANGED TITLE TO BETTER REFLECT POST TOPIC

hah! What I have to wonder is, did this guy get my picture?

His name isn't anywhere close to mine (at least what I could make out from the signature), nor do we look anything alike!

Bizzare really, I can't wait to hear what they have to say on monday...

Probably happens more often than not...

Hopefully the person who got your picture will be doing the same thing...

I have to wonder how deep does this rabbit hole go???

Obviously everything is approved, so reprinting the card with the correct information on there should not take very long...

I bet you'll have to send this one back for them to expedite getting the new "correct" one on its way...

Give them a call Monday bright and early, and see what they would like you to do...

Keep us posted...

The fact that you can go ahead and carry makes it a harmless and humorous error. If you had been told to wait to carry until they got the picture corrected...then that would perhaps not have been so humorous. Congrats, regardless. :coolgleamA:

The identity in question would not be "McLovin" is it? :biggrinjester:

Gives a literal meaning to the PC acronym MUBAR (messed up beyond all recognition), huh ?

Another reason I suggest to students to write their CHL application number on the back of the picture with the 2 signatures - as just one more precaution against all the paperwork problems evidently floating around down there ...

When I mentioned the circumstances to The Wife, she said "That's horrible! You should offer to take his picture for free if he lives close and they lost it."

You know, with as many hands that handle our applications its a miracle that any of it gets through the system and back to the right person.

Sorry about your misfortune.... I'm sure you will get it all straighten out Monday. Good Luck! :thumbs2:

Thanks everyone, I'll post an update after I talk to the powers that be down in Austin

I'm just glad to be able to carry right now, if the police would have told me otherwise I would have gotten real bent out of shape

Keep that license! It will be a collectors item one day.

Oh, and all people make mistakes. Even the DPS.

I remember the same thing happening to someone in a post here about a year ago.

I recall it was fixed in a relatively short time.

good luck and congratulations!

I gave them a ring earlier today..

The woman I spoke to was very polite and said that they would issue me a new license via mail asap!

This same thing happened to a student in one of our classes several years ago. DPS told him to return that license when he received his replacement from them. Didn't take but a week or so to get it straightened out.

Oh yeah? SHe never said anything about sending it back or destroying it...

I'm thinking of putting it in a 4 X 6 frame and setting it on the coffee table.

Good conversation piece

Remember something about anytime you change your address or modify your CHL, the old one must be returned.
