Can anyone recommend CMMG AR-15's?

Post by TexasComputerDude »

I'm thinking of ordering an AR from cmmginc.secure-mall.com but their webpage isn't as professional as I would like.

Have any of yall ordered from them? Are you happy with your CMMG AR?

CMMG is lacking in website but they more than makeup for it with a quality weapon. If you call them you get a good feel for their business practices.

I bought a CMMG a month or so ago and it works great, I sent them an email inquiring about an operating manual, as I could not find mine. They sent me an instruction manual for my rifle and the USMC manual M16 at no charge.

Overall I would say they are great.

Just call Rob at http://www.talonarms.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. He can hook you up with a CMMG deal $799 (think I posted it in another thread). I think they do free shipping too...don't quote me on that though.

well I've been doing some reading and it appears that cmmg is slightly superior. Plus I want to use 5.56 round because I heard 5.56 chamberings can fire 223 good.

I saw a bushmaster at academy for a good price but I can get a stainless barrel and accessories for a bit more from cmmg.

I will post the link I have to the comprehensive at guide as soon as I find a computer. My iPhone can't copy paste

I built out a CMMG lower with a Rock River NM lower parts kit recently and it was of very high quality. Based on the fit and finish of the lower I'd say you'd be getting a quality gun. It also mated up snugly with a Colt, Stag, and Bushmaster upper I tried it with so I was pleased.

I just replaced an entire upper on a Bushmaster with a CMMG M4 upper yesterday - fit quite well.

One question for anoyne with a CMMG upper - does your barrel have markings on it (as in .223/5.56 HBAR or similar)? I found it odd that while my Bushmaster barrel had the ID marks on it, the CMMG does NOT seem to (that I can find, anyhow).

Everything I've read indicates that CMMG is top notch with regard to quality - will be able to give a more informed opinion when I get out to shoot this "new" gun (which thanks to Ike, will be at least another week). I have heard a few stories that their customer service is not as good as their build quality, but don't have an opinion myself yet as I bought my upper thru a redistributor.

A couple of updates - I found the barrel markings....on the part of the barrel under the handguards! Seemed an odd place to put them. Is it even possible to put a barrel on "backwards" (ie, are the threads the same on both ends)?

The rifle shoots fine with the new CMMG upper - put 170 rounds thru it last weekend without a problem.

I've had my 16'' mid-length for about 2 years now and am still very happy with it. Although slow, CMMG's customer service is waaay better than you would expect based on the website.
