Man, am I a nerd!

Post by lawrnk »

I work in computers. My birthday is coming up in a couple weeks. Obviously, a new gun sounds nice. Then out of the blue, a custom genome mapping service dropped the price of mapping from thousands, to a few hundred. Anyone here ever been mapped? I think I'm going to take the plunge.

I don't know you very well so I don't have enough facts to argue with you about being a nerd.
This genome mapping seems really creepy, like Brave New World.

I don't want to be found by aliens. I want to go home to Jesus!

Actually, this might be of value to my wife, who was an only child and adopted at birth, who knows nothing about the health of her biological progenitors. On the other hand, she just celebrated the 18th anniversary of her 32nd birthday in June, and she's been as healthy as anyone can be for the 22+ years we've known each other.

All the same, I'll let her know about it...

...OTH, there's that Glock she might be interested in, and it's only a little bit more money...

I'd get the gun this year and the genome mapping service next year when the price drops into the petty cash range.

Had my Y-DNA SNP and STR tested (several different times as marker sets expanded), and my mtDNA run, too. Does that count?

And before anybody accuses me of being a nerd, I just bought a gun. ;-)

Well, there's that, but you can save a ton of money by waiting a few months until the special must have item becomes just another commodity.

Is this something you could get done for free on Maury or Springer? Then you just have to put up with chants of "beh-beh daddeh'" and/or "you don' knoow me"...
