Gun belts

Post by kalipsocs »

Well I am sure this is a double post in one way or another, but I couldn't find any others so here it goes. I need recommendations on a good gun belt....a GOOD one. Not some $300, unicorn skin gun belt. I am real to the fact that you have to pay more to get a good belt, but I refuse to have the belt be a good portion of the gun in supports. Price range is $50-100 and doesn't need to be anything fancy just something I can wear every day while packing or not. So whats the verdict? Thanks guys (and gals).

If you're in the DFW area, check out Texas Gunslinger ( http://www.texasgunslinger.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) in Arlington.

If you're in the Houston area, he's normally at the gun show at the George R Brown -- don't remember seeing him at either the Reliant Center or Pasadena shows.

My wife and I have bought a belt and a belt slide each from him. My belt is now my "what-I-wear-whenever-I'm-dressed" belt, whether I'm carrying or not. His prices are easily within your ballpark range.

Try the Maxpedition Liger Gun Belt. Very strong, excellent support for the weapon, synthetic material that doesn't need polishing and the color goes all the way through, and the buckle fits in either business or casual environments. Check it out here.

Take a hard look at the 5.11 belts.

I have one of the 1.5" casual belts. It is actuall quite nice for the price. It has some sort of stiffener in it, but it doesnt make it virtually rigid like some gunbelts with inserts.

So I know that 5.11 TDU belt is not commonly thought of as a "gun belt" but is it sturdy enough to handle a IWB rig?

Looks like a killer deal if it'll do the job. Maybe I'd be better off with an Uncle Mike's Instructors Belt (which I think is identical to the Wilderness Tactical Instructors Belt, only cheaper).

Liger Gun Belts at

Measure according to their instructions and you will be good to go. You should get it pretty quick unless you're fluffy.

Here you go:
reddiamondonline.com Don Hume b109L double thickness leather, no kydex insert, $34.99. You will wait forever, a couple of months. My black one is fine, my brown one has cracks all over the finish.

looperlawenforcement.com gun belt with kydex insert, $39.99. You will wait awhile for this one too. And they don't respond to emails. But it will show up and it is a great belt!! I'm gonna order another one.

galls.com Leather Dress Belt, item # LP224. It's an AKER B21 leather belt with kydex insert, $44.99. I don't own one, but I have heard they are an excellent belt and that Galls ships quick and has good customer service.

thebeltman.net Jim is a great guy, excellent customer service, but you have to wait a little. His belts are worth the price and the wait!!
I myself, would not spend any more money than what Jim 'The Beltman' charges. I don't think you can get any better quality. All you can do is say; "Well looky here at MY gunbelt, I spent a Gazillion dollars on this baby"

The Beltman makes a great quality belt and can customize it for your needs. I couldn't be happier with mine. :thumbs2:

I like the DeSantis Belts. They are reasonably priced and are good quality. I bought one at a gun show several years ago but it is 1.75" wide. I like it but it is a little tight in the belt loops and through some of my holsters. I then ordered a couple of 1.5" DeSantis belts from New York Iron Works. They have a nice selection of styles.

http://www.newyorkironworks.com/

I'm sure there are other places to get them. This is just the place I found on the net when I was looking.

Thanks,
Eric
