Fighting spirit

Post by seamusTX »

At 8:35 p.m. Tuesday, a thief snatched a woman's purse and ran with it outside Tortuga's restaurant on the Seawall in Galveston. The victim gave the police a description of the thief.

An hour later, one Jacqueline Boss was sitting at an outdoor table at the Float bar about two miles east when the same thief snatched her companion's purse.

Ms. Boss chased the thief, following him over a 5-foot-high wall. She broke her leg as she landed. Nevertheless, she grabbed the thief and held him until other bar patrons could "subdue" him.

The thief is described as 21 years, 6 feet tall, and 190 pounds. Ms. Boss is 44, 5 foot 7, and petite.

Ms. Boss is in the hospital and scheduled for surgery. The thief is in jail nursing bruises, apparently unable to make his $5,000 bond.

Both purses were recovered.

"Hey, kid. Yeah, you. What're you in for?"

"Uh, assault. Assault with a deadly weapon."

"Reallly... That's funny. Guard told me you're a purse snatcher who got chased down by a 44-year-old woman. Nobody in the block better mess with a tough guy like you!"

Another case study to refute the premise that self-defense is futile.

Every citizen that gets involved is a speed bump in a perp's evil doing,
and should eventually land him in jail.

Don't mess with Texas women!

Claiborne County, Tennessee (Knoxville area), May 13 -- Two crooks broke into the occupied home of one Wanda Bray, 58, on Tuesday. She threw a bowl of hot chili in their faces and drove them out of the house with a broom.

Police later arrested three men in connection with the home invasion and another robbery.

Nobody looks good in a mug shot, but these guys are obviously the products of inbreeding and drug abuse.

40 years ago there were areas of upper east Tennessee that were on a par with the Big Thicket except that east Tennessee had hills and 'corn'. Who remembers the movie "Thunder Road"?

I remember "Thunder Road" - Robert Mitchum and a '49 Ford. And do you remember the "Ballad of Thunder Road"?

Thanks for the memory jolt.

Seriously, what if these two women had CHL's and were armed? How and where do you suppose these ladies packed their CCW's? :eek6

Now, this puts a whole new light on the subject - does it not? :fire

Well, the Float bar is a for-real 51% bar. Probably it would not be a good idea to carry there.

The lady in South Carolina was in her home and could well have had a Barrett rifle stood up next to the stove (though overpenetration is a problem with .50 BMG).

I just like to post these stories about people who are not armed with conventional weapons and not your typical ninja stereotypes, who just won't quit.

Seriously, if the CCW's are carried in a bag/purse or somewhat, thought should be given to that 'pokes' whereabouts at all times.

Being an hombre, I have no opinion about how women should carry handguns in their purses, it they choose to do so.

I can definitely see the problem of carrying in a holster in form-fitting female dress made with light fabrics, as opposed to typical male dress.

Wanda Bray didn't submit easily to a home invasion robbery on Tuesday. When two men broke into her home to rob her, she fought back.
Once again it proved that these kind of bums will most likely run if you fight back. This lady was determined she was not going to be a victim and she fought them off with any and everything she could get her hands on.
Instead of one victim, she was one victor! :hurry:
Wanda Bray, a job well done, you are a patriot. :patriot:
