Stolen Wallet, License gone

Post by cdcurrin »

I tried to search for this, but I couldn't find anything. What do I do while im waiting for a new license in the mail? Can I legally carry? Or do I need to wait until I get new plastic? Thanks

You can't legally carry except in your motor vehicle.

I suppose you lost your driver license, too. :grumble

The exception in the law that makes licensed concealed carry legal requires that you have your license on your person.

This is one reason I have a Utah CCW in addition to my CHL. I hope you get your replacement fast.

Your right to carry a handgun for self defense was canceled by the thief that stole your wallet. Gotta wait for the new plastic.

That stinks and shows the problem with requiring us to have the plastic in our possession. Until you get your replacement plastic you can carry in your home and in your car. Can you imagine if police couldn't legally carry in public if they didn't have their their license on them and had to use vacation days until they got their new license in the mail? Anyway if you can't find a convenient Utah class, the Pennsylvania license is $25 and doesn't require a class if you have a Texas CHL. Cheap insurance.

this is what I figured. Hopefully it wont take forever for them to get it out to me in the mail. Looks like I'll have to settle for only packing 2 guns for now.

Wouldn't this license also have been in the stolen wallet? Or, do you leave it at home until needed?

My Utah license stays home unless I'm traveling somewhere that accepts Utah but not Texas, like Las Vegas until recently.

I would be worried that now the thief knows where you live and you have a gun too. Unless your life is involved in going to many dangerous places, i wouldn't worry about carrying or not that much.
Please help the wounded store owner who fought off 3 robbers. He doesn't have medical insurance.

I think the thief took the wallet for the cash only, then dumped the wallet after taking my 2 dollars or so. Nothing was charged to any of my credit cards. Cell phone was stolen along with the wallet as well.

Man, that would be a good way to disarm someone. Steal their wallet w/ their CHL and then you know they wont be carrying next time you see them out on the street. Easy target. Good thing we have the MPA at least.

Exactly. My Utah license is in a safe deposit box at my bank just in case this happens.
