failure to feed xd 40S&W

Post by EHS »

I have a subcompact springfield xd 40S&w. Last time at the range I had 3 failure to feed out of 120 or so rounds. I had two different types of ammo (hollow point and winchester white box). They happened the first couple of mags then no trouble after for rest of the fun. Gun is new less than 500 rounds. Talked to springfield they told me to clean it and and try again. I cleaned the gun and did not see any problems (not a gunsmith but compared it to my xd tactical version. I read several forums about hitting the slide release while firing and causing this. Any thoughts? I am going to the range tommorrow to try it again.

I can not say it could not be but I have yet to have a problem with my xd tactical of the same caliber and it has way more rounds thru it? I thought about that. I will definetly pay close attention at the range.

My 4" .45 XD Service definitely DOES NOT LIKE lswc bullets but I've had no other problems with it. My 9mm XD SC will eat anything.

Clean 'er up good and keep :fire .

I don't have any troubles with mine. You may want to go visit over here though if you keep having them http://www.xdtalk.com/ Or better yet come visit even if you don't have any issues

Well got to shot the subcompact today about 150 rounds. I only had problems with one of the magazines. It stopped both times with 5 rounds still in the mag. I am pretty sure it is a magazine issue. Since this thing is only a couple of months old I am going to find out how good springfield's customer serivce is. My other two magazines feed flawlessly. To make the range day better my childern were able to join me with their 22 rifle. Hopefully passing along the bug.

Thanks for the ideas.

In my experience Springfields CS is great. I had to send in a new Garand and when I started to explain what happened the rep. said it didn't matter what happened to the rifle or with the rifle. Lifetime warranty no matter what!

YMMV

I am happy to say when I called Springfield today they were great. Instantly, they sent me a prepaid fedex label email and they are shipping me a new magazine. I am happy somebody still believes in c.s. Things like that will make stay with Springfield when I get the ok from the boss for my 1911.

personally , to me , good customer service goes a looong way .
even something as insignificant as a drive up window at a fast food place .

when the employee is courteous and efficient , you leave with a sense of satisfaction .
then there's the other employee who feels inconvenienced to have to help you .
