More seek concealed weapons permits

Post by joe817 »

From USA Today:

"Gun owners are packing heat in record numbers, fearful of stricter gun control under the Obama administration and higher crime in a sour economy.....The Department of Public Safety has seen "an unprecedented increase" in applications since November, spokeswoman Lisa Block says....."

As far as I can tell this was in yesterday's edition.

If you look at the graph, it shows(I have to assume licenses issued by month):

Jan - 12,873
Feb - 12,876
Mar - 15,616
Apr - 13,939
May - 10,704

By comparison June, 2008 DPS had 8,173 licenses issued.

No wonder those poor folks at HQ are going crazy.

Awesome! I am doing my part to interest the other women I know in getting a CHL. Several have indicated they would like to learn to shoot and maybe get their license. Most of them have firearms in their houses but don't know how to handle them. The more people we can interest in learning to shoot and get a CHL, the more we will all protect our 2A rights. You vote for what you have a personal stake in. :patriot:

Fantastic TexasGal! WTG! You are doing those ladies a great service by encouraging them to learn to shoot, AND to work on getting their CHL. Get them into a firearms safety class, take them out to the range afterwards.

Keep up the good work! :tiphat:

* Utah. June ranked as the top month ever for applications, with 11,292 received, says Lt. Doug Anderson of the state Bureau of Criminal Identification. This year also is record-setting, he says, with 49,499 applications in through June.
Poorrrrrr Utah...I know a lot of us are getting that Utah non-resident permit as a supplement to our Texas CHL...

The only thing that bugged me about those guys in the Utah office...I put down in my paperwork that I had BRN hair...Mrs. Crossfire took my picture, which they obviously looked at, and changed BRN to GRY... :headscratch

"Wife-Unit" went and bought me this thing called "Just for Men" after I got the Utah CHP...I still haven't had the guts to open the box... ;-) Oh well...

That's funny right there! "rlol"

Someone looked at my picture on my CHL and said I looked like a criminal. But he didn't say anything about my gray hair!

I went in for my Motorcycle license at 8 am after I took the training class... wearing a wife-beater (white tank top, it was laundry day) and all disheveled. Didn't think they'd need a pic since me current license looked soooo good. Nope. Picture. First Leo that saw my new TXDL said he was taking me to jail based just on my pic. Jokingly of course, but still, slightly disturbing. Now I just tell them I dressed up for my picture. :thumbs2:
