Taurus PT140, 10 + 1, .40, NIB, $199.99, Academy.

Today I was visiting the Academy in Lewisville, window shopping.
Just for grins, I handled a duo tone Taurus PT1911 and the Rossi, 5 shot revolver,
3" barrel, .38 special that's on sale for $199.99 from 11/22-11/25.

Out of nowhere, the clerk tells me that on Black Friday (the day after
Turkey Day) Academy is going to have a 5 hour only sale on the
Taurus PT140, for only $199.99! Wow, this gun goes for $329.99 IIRC.

http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/prod ... s_id/32438" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The identical or similar gun at Bud's is ~ $350.00. This link has a nice clear picture of the weapon.

I would assume that if the Lewisville Academy has this on sale, that all the Academy sites will have this
deal. I have no idea if they are going to advertise this at the last minute, or at all.

The Lewisville store will be open at 500 AM on Black Friday. I'm not sure which part of their sales
day will include the PT140 deal, but 500AM-1000AM would be my guess.

Those of us with Taurus weapons know they go bang reliably.
A PT140 can be pocket carried within a proper pocket holster (DeSantis Nemesis, Uncle Mike's Size 4.)

If this fits someone's needs - jump on it.

Thanks for the heads-up. I've had my eye on a Bersa UC 9, but if I get my mits on a Taurus .40 for $200, the Bersa might just have to wait a while.

Does anyone here have the PT140? If so, what are your thoughts or comments on the gun? Sounds like a great deal at $199.

I owned one for awhile, and while it was very accurate, I had trouble keeping the magazine in the gun when I was shooting. It got to the point that I had to adjust my grip to keep it from happening. I was NOT depressing the mag release. That was the first thing I thought of.

Here's a thread from the Taurus Forum on this very subject. http://www.taurusarmed.net/forums/index ... ic=16707.0

I'm not trying to say that ALL PT-140s have this problem, this is my experience with the gun. I no longer own it. My wife has a PT-111 mil-pro and has not had a single problem with it. Then again........she hasn't dropped it yet! :smilelol5:

Cheers!!

Guys,

I've never owned, or fired a PT140, but all the reviews are less favorable than the S & W Sigma that's only $269 @ Academy when you factor in the $50 mail in rebate until 12-31. I came this close (finger and thumb approximately 1/2 inch apart) to buying a Sigma 9mm, but just couldn't do a DAO trigger. Between the 2 I'd kick in the xtra $70 and get the Sigma, but Taurus isn't on my DNBUAC (Do Not Buy Under Any Circumstance) list.

The closest in-state Academy to me is ~100 miles away. I really wish we could get one here, where Gander Mountain, Wal-Mart, and a few pawn superstores are the only game in town. :banghead:

The above link is the Texas map and a HUGE list of Academy stores.

Where are you located chabouk? It seems like you are in Presidio or Alpine if your closest Academy is
> 100 miles away.

If that's your geography - is it worth a little road trip to pick up a good value?

Red's gun range is about 5 miles from me, Academy is 4 miles from me, with another location 6 miles in the opposite direction, Austin Gun Liquidators is 2 miles from me, McBrides is 15 miles from me, and Cabelas is 25 miles from me; by my reckoning, my house location is more valuable than beach front. :biggrinjester:

Man that's tempting. Any thoughts about it being a first time SA owner (I've shot them, just never owned one) and someone saving up for/working on getting plastic? Not sure if I like the sound of dropping it...

Yea, but what if someone buys the last of the gun he wants jusssst before he got there? :banghead: If I lived that far from civilization, I'd probably get real friendly with online stores.
