WTB any of the following .22 pistols

Post by fboyles »

I'm looking for a deal on any of the following pistols
1. Ruger MKIII 22/45
2. S&W 22A
3. Beretta U22
4. Walther SP22
in order of preference

FTF in the Houston area would be a PLUS. Thank you, Fboyles

After doing a little more home work I'm leaning towards the Ruger MKIII 22/45. The 22/45 seems to have more of a following so I will be able to tweak it to my liking. I have a couple buddies that have the S&W 22A and love them but I really like the way the Ruger looks. So my trying to find out if they're reliable shooters too. Thanks for time

not sure if a WTB post brakes the #13 rule or not?

Not looking to sell, but my hubby and I purchased two Beretta U22 Neos for our Christmas gifts and just wanted to let you know they are a pleasure to shoot, and shoot reliably. :)

Have you thought about the Browning Buck Mark?

Actually I had a Buckmark on a 24 hour hold but decided not to buy after reading that any time that you want to remove the upper from the frame you would have to remove your red dot or scope. I'm hoping that I will be able to find a deal on a Ruger 22/45.

No, they don't. Only WTS/WTT posts are restricted.

Welcome to the forum and good luck on your search! :thumbs2:

The manual says you don't have to remove the slide for cleaning; just clean around the chamber and lubricate the slide. Seems to work.

Then again, I have never worn out a weapon by excessive cleaning, if you know what I mean. ;-)

In my experience .22LR Rifles and Pistols don't need to be cleaned as often or as thoroughly as centerfires. I have several .22LR pistols that I have never taken apart for cleaning. If I were looking to buy another, the Buckmark would be at the top of my list.

Have any of you bought a gun from Budsgunshop.com? They have the best price on two of the .22 pistols that I'm looking for. I'm still hoping that I can find one locally to avoid a the cost of a FFL transfer.

I see that you are new to the forum. Do you know there is a FFL Holder section on the forum? There are many listed which have $20-30 transfer fees. IMO, trying to find the exact model at any price at a local store is going to be difficult.

I don't have any first hand experience with Bud's, but they seem to have an excellent selection and good prices. Based on the limited research I had done, I would use them. They have a 99% Rating on GunBroker.com.

If you're in Houston there's a gun show at the convention center next weekend.
If you can read this, thank a teacher. If it's on the internet, thank a geek.

I ended up buying that Buckmark Camper for $218 at Academy after reading more at Rimfirecentral.com. I really like the work that Rusty22 is doing to them.

Sounds like you got a great deal. If I had known they it was that cheap I probably would have bought one for myself as a Christmas present. I hope that you are very happy with your choice.

Congratulations on a good choice and thanks for sharing the rimfire website.

FWIW, I've made three handgun purchases from Buds in the past couple of years. I have been totally pleased with everything about Buds. If I had a job and/or $500 or so, I'd make another purcahse - TOMORROW.
