WTB Marlin 336 30-30

Post by tgarner »

I'm looking to purchase a Marlin 336 for my son, not looking for antique or new, just a solid working rifle.

Welcome aboard & we are glad to have you. It is good to see another Dad taking son hunting. An excellent choice for him to start deer hunting with. My grandson shoots one now & I have another that will be ready in a couple of more yrs.

Hope you find one soon & hope to see you get involved in the discussions on the board.
Merry Christmas

i know they have them at acadamy BNIB for are 350-400 range. or if you are looking to save a little go to your local pawn shop, they are so popular they are just about everywhere.
As for as the 3030 goes i think the marlin is a better rifle than the 94 mod. winchester just because the marlin ejects to the side and the winchester ejects from top limiting you on what you can mount, i have the 94 my dad has the marlin 336. go fig.

I bought one for $180 at a San Antonio gun show couple years ago. It was a "Glenfield," one of the variants that Marlin sold under another name, but in looks and by research at some levergun websites, it is basically a 336 with cheaper wood. The wood is dinged up, but the action and barrel just fine, and I thought it was a heck of a deal. And no I am not offering to sell it  , just sayin' keep your eyes open at the local gunshows...

I had been looking at gun shows but for the prices they were asking I ended up just buying a new one from Academy earlier this year. The ones I saw were wanting $300-350 and they didn't seem to be in that good of shape. Hopefully you will have better luck than I did.

My wife was trying out her new Roku player last night (it rocks for watching Netflix!) and picked a cheesy Bruce Campbell movie where he plays himself, sort of a spoof making fun of all his B-movie work.

Anyway, they're picking out guns to repel the demon zombies, and somebody says, "Marlin 336... put a pig's eye out at a thousand yards!"

My wife couldn't understand why I doubled up with laughter. :smilelol5:
