Found some .380--Ft Worth

Post by Medic218 »

Cabela's in Ft Worth
Winchester white box 50ct--92gr
18.99
3 box limit

There were alot of boxes to pick up if it weren't for the 3 box limit.
However, I took 6 boxes up to the front and the girl at the counter must not have been aware of the policy. I got out of there without any hitches. I don't know why they put a limit on it, as long as they sell it why do they care how many boxes a single person takes?
Also, I didn't see a sign anywhere stating the 3 box limit but was informed about it by an employee. So I guess if you just grab and go you should be fine...and if they give you any grief at the checkout counter then just inform them they didnt have any signage stating the limit and that you're entitled to as many boxes as you can afford....and remember, the customer is always right afterall.

I was in Gun and Knife Supply tonight in McKinney (http://www.gunandknifesupply.com/)and they had plenty of .380 in stock.

I don't have a .380, but I picked up some .45 ACP Speer Gold Dot though. They also have some stuff that is loaded locally by someone who is apparently licensed to manufacture ammo. I didn't get any, but it was competively priced and supposedly uses new brass.

I stumbled onto 30 boxes of Remington at Dick's Sporting Goods in Bee Caves last weekend. 3 boxes per person, and I bet it didn't last the day.
If I had a gun for every ace I have drawn, I could arm a town the size of Abilene.

Yeah, I was in there last week too but all he had were the locally loaded self defence rounds, no target rounds. Guess I need to pay those nice people another visit.

I didn't really notice if it was target ammo or SD ammo. Like I said, I was looking for .45 ACP, and all they had were JHP self-defense rounds. So maybe they're heavy on the hollowpoints and light on the target ammo. (Which makes sense, when you think about it....I go through a LOT more "range" ammo than I do "self defense" ammo...)

I agree, they're nice folks, and I plan to keep giving them my business when I can. Their inventory is a little light, but it's nice to have alternatives. I was also looking to pick up another Wilson Combat 1911 magazine, but all they had was one 7-round one and I like the 8-round ones. (So I paid too much for it at the Bullet Trap on the way home from work today...)

Yeah - I contributed to some of those boxes going quickly. In fact, I also purchased this newly found/available Remington UMC from the Pflugerville & Domain stores this week... Pflugerville had some in for at least 3-4 days, Bee Caves had some in for 2-3 days, and Domain actually still may have 4 boxes (at least as of last night) and today would be the 3rd day since arrival!

I simply needed to pick up enough to weather the possible months where .380 would be near impossible to get. At this time, while I train, I'll use about 250 rounds a month prob for 2-3 months, then work my way down to about 1/2 that to sustain.

I've stumbled across Walmart having the Winchester 100cnt 95 grain, but wonder about accuracy of the flat head rounds... I have a box of these to try out at some point too.

Academy in Round Rock has been carrying Monarch brand, but good luck with that - my Kahr P380 does not like those hard primers, and was getting a few FTF's per magazine!
Professional Training, Competition, Risk Avoidance, Situational Awareness, Tactical Mindset, 100,000+ rounds down range - the hardware is the least important part of the equation...
