I have no interest in this piece or the seller. I just thought it was interesting.

surv
edit to add: just looked a bit closer.... the grip screws aren't vertically aligned, so I can now take that poor example of craftsmanship off my shopping list

It's not gun control that we need, it's soul control!

OK this is the second reference I've seen today to BBQ guns. What is a BBQ gun and rig? Be gentle, I'm still a relatively new Texan.

If you have an hour or two to spend drooling, go to Collectors Firearms.seamusTX wrote:This is a SIG P226 in 9 mm: http://www.collectorsfirearms.com/admin ... emID=14419" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It is currently for sale at Collectors Firearms in Houston:

They have something like 10,000 guns on display.
If you think the one in the picture is nice, you should see the endless display
cabinets of guns just like that one and some that you might not see anywhere else.

Well pardner, a Bar-B-Q gun is your dress up gun, Sunday go to meetin' gun. It is usually a fancy engraved show piece that you wear in a fancy tooled holster on a fancy tooled belt with silver or gold hardware. It's the gun you'd carry to a Bar-B-Q at the Governor's ranch so to say.SQLGeek wrote:OK this is the second reference I've seen today to BBQ guns. What is a BBQ gun and rig? The epitome of Bar-B-Q guns is a fully engraved nickle plated Colt Single Action in .45 colt with carved ivory grips (preferably in some Texican motif) carried in a Tom Three Persons holster that is fully tooled in oak leaves and a belt with a Mexican Silver buckle and 20 cartridge loops with Winchester Silver Tip ammo. My friend, that's a real Bar-B-Q rig!

It's a fancy gun for people who dress up for BBQ in states that allow OC.SQLGeek wrote:OK this is the second reference I've seen today to BBQ guns. What is a BBQ gun and rig? Be gentle, I'm still a relatively new Texan.

Re: BBQ Gun of the Week
BBQ guns should be Exhibit #1 in the argument for legalizing open carry in Texas. It's a downright insult to Texas heritage to be a criminal for showing off your hardware to those who would appreciate it.

Re: BBQ Gun of the Week
Er, correct me if I'm wrong, but at a BBQ on private property with the owner's blessing, you can open carry at this BBQ, right? That should be legal, unless I'm getting another acid flashback or attack of opiate withdrawal....
Since the shopping mall is open to the public, you can't OC there. However, my cousin Bob's ranch is not open to the public, so with his blessing, I can OC there.
Lawyers, is this true?
BTW, I have never heard the term BBQ gun. Thanks!

Re: BBQ Gun of the Week
There is nothing in the law that generally gives people the right to carry on private property that they do not own, whether or not is not open to the public.
If you have a barbecue on private property that is large enough or screened by fences so that it cannot be seen from another place (public road or someone else's property), who's to know? But if you try it on a city lot, you are probably going to get a visit from the police.
