Riflescopes for sale - just not sure which

Post by A-R »

Hi all. Posting this in the for sale section because I honestly do intend to sell one of these three rifle scopes. I just honestly can't decide which one at the moment. So I thought I'd test the water a bit to see if anyone maybe is looking for one of these scopes and really wants one. No photos right now, but links to retail web sites with photos below. All are in very good to great condition. The Millet and the smaller Nikon look new, the larger Nikon has a few rub marks from probably one hunting season. Only the Millett comes with box/papers etc.

I'm honestly not sure right now which of these I plan to keep and which to sell. One of the two Nikons will reside on my Savage .308 deer rifle. And one of these scopes will likely be used on my new AR upper I plan to order soon for hoped for coyote and hog hunting in the future.

So if anyone has been looking for one of these or just a good scope in general, make me a realistic offer (cash or Pay Pal preferred, but will consider trades).

General suggestions about which you think I should keep also welcome :cheers2: Thanks for looking ...

1. Millet TRS 4-16x50mm illuminated mildot reticle side-focus parallax correction 30mm tube (might be able to supply some rings with this one) - OEM flipup lens caps

Sells for $325 at most internet retailers

These go for about $275 + shipping on eBay

This is a large heavy varmint type scope with box and all instructions etc., so shipping will be about $20.

While it doesn't have the big-time name like Nikon, this Millett scope has a deservedly great reputation. It's easily of the same quality as the Monarch-line Nikons or probably VXII or VXIII level Leupolds. It may just be longer than I need right now. I've owned this scope less than a year. Mounted it on both my AR and my Savage .308. Didn't fit right on AR because of front sight post - it would fit, but then I lost my cheek weld because I had to put my head back too far to be comfortable. On a rifle-length buttstock AR (especially somehting like a Magpul PRS) would probably work better, or with a flip-down front sight post. This scope would be superb for a heavy barreled rifle, or something like an AR-10, an M1A, or an FNAR. Worked very well on my Savage .308, but was just too much scope of that rifle, a model 11 deer-rifle and not a varmint or bench-rest rifle.

2. Nikon Monarch 2.5-10x42mm mildot reticle 1-inch tube with Butler Creek flipup lens caps - might be willing to also sell Burris XTR medium rings with it ($60 retail value)

This one retails about $400

Bought this from a guy last year, who told me it was less than a year old and only shot at range. I believe him because it looked brand-new when I bought it. Still does. Mounted it on my Savage .308 where it stays. Great scope, possibly my favorite of the three. Had no plans to replace it until I stumbled upon the scope below tonight.

Could ship for $15

3. Nikon Monarch Gold UCC 2.5-10x50mm Nikoplex reticle side focus parallax correction 30mm tube tethered type lens caps

This one retails between $600 - $700

Just picked this up in a trade. In good shape, with just a few rub marks on the side-focus knob. Amazingly clear scope. Guy told me it is one year old and he used it himself for one hunting season then ended up selling the rifle or something and buyer had his own scope.

This would be a no-brainer keeper for me if it had a mildot reticle (which I prefer), or at least a bullet-drop compensator reticle. The standard reticle is fine, clear and crisp. I just prefer some kind of reticle markings for guesstimating holdovers etc. But it's easily the best scope of the bunch - Nikon glass is world-class (I know this because of the thousands of dollars worth of Nikon professional camera lenses I have stashed away collecting dust at the moment :grumble).
