Concern about crime and personal safety is behind a sharp increase in the number of concealed firearms permits issued by the Maine State Police, firearms instructors and gun rights advocates say.

Good article and timely... we'll be making a trip up to Portland at the end of the month and we have a liberal friend who loves to engage me in debates about gun rights, etc. This is right in his own backyard.
