Looking at 3rd gen. Glock - price

Post by toddlinder »

I am looking at a 3rd generation G19 with night sights, looks like it is in decent shape with two magazines. The person is asking $400. Is that a good deal? Thanks.

With the night sights, that's a good deal. If you're a GSSF member ($35), you can get the G19 new with 3 magazines and regular sights for $400-$425.

That is a good deal... take it!

I was at an Academy this afternoon and I saw a 4th gen Glock 19 in the glass case. I was surprised to see the 4th gen in the G19 was already out. They were going for $525 (plus tax).

If you join the GSSF (Glock Sport Shooting Foundation), you can purchase 1 glock per year at law enforcement pricing. You go to a participating Glock law enforcement dealer and show your GSSF card to get the discount. As an added bonus, the LE Glocks come with 3 magazines. More information on the program can be seen here:

A GSSF price will be good, but it won't be $400 with night sights.

I saw the G19 Gen 4 at Academy in Selma... just outside of San Antonio. Check all of your Academy's - not sure how wide spread they are... but it should be in most stores very soon, if they are not there already.

According to Glock (posted on GlockTalk this weekend) the Gen 4 G19 won't be out till July. Are you sure they were gen 4, not the Gen 3 RTF2? Did they say "Gen 4" on the slide??

Just FYI and take it for what it's worth, but I heard a Glock Armorer saying that Glock is having problems with the double recoil spring set up on the Gen 4 models. Some of them are breaking and having to be replaced? Too much pressure from the larger spring?

Again, just passing this along this information third hand from a single source. So grain of sale and all that.

My bad... I just got back from Academy (again) and talked to a different Sales Clerk. The other one told me it was the Gen 4 and I took him at his word. This time I actually held it and found out that it really is the G19 gen 3 RTF2.

I am sorry for the excitement and now let down for those waiting on the Gen 4. I had a Premature Evaluation!
