Cheapest 9mm ammo in DFW?

Post by age_ranger »

Where's the cheapest ammo to be found? I'm looking to make a bulk buy of at least 1000 rounds. My Walmart stopped selling the WWB for $4.6oish a box. Anyone know a cheap source? Should have bought stock in Winchester.........latest check was $7-$12 a box locally now.

Bummer.

Academy is probably your best bet locally. Also, try Cheaper THan Dirt in Fort Worth.

I ordered 1K on Wednesday....Federal American Eagle from Natchez, seemed to be the best deal I could find once tax is considered.

Cheaper Than Dirt has Wolf for $132.97 per 1000. I'd call to see if they had it in stock before I drove out there, the last time I went they had very little ammo in stock.

I've been using CCI Blazer Aluminum from Academy for just a little over $5 a box.

I just switched to Academy's Monarch at $4.80/box. This is steel caesd, Russian ammo (reminds me ot wolf but w/ worse packaging). It is very soft shooting, have not checked it accuracy caefully, but seems accurate.

If you guys could post store locations to go with those prices, I'd appreciate it. I went to cheaperthandirt in Fort Worth the other day and their ammo prices have gone up. Cheapest box was $8 range. I could make out better paying $7+ at Walmart here in Plano.

Natchez has 1k for 157 shipped. I would have wasted more than that driving to wal-marts trying to buy all they have. I would rather it come to my door in one box

Monarch is made at the Barnaul plant in Russia. They're a respected cartridge manufacturer. I have about 15 boxes of Monarch in 9mm, but haven't had the chance to shoot any yet.

Monarch ammo. Yes, it's dirty. Not a big deal if you clean afterwards, it shot okay, was dirt cheap, but I couldn't get over the stink of it! It didn't have that wonderful burnt gunpowder aroma, it had some sort of "funk" to it. :ack:

Barnaul ammo has a reputation for smelling like someone cremating a wet dog on a pyre of burning tires.

I know there's got to be a Walmart somewhere that's still selling the WWB for $4.63 a box.................hopefully. I found a source I can get ammo for $6ish a box. That's about $120/1000 for new mfr. ammo. Guess I should go buy them out :???:
