Surprised by inexpensive holster

Just wanted to mention this in case anyone is curious...

I picked up an inexpensive holster at the gun show in Austin last week for $20. Didn't think much of it, until I found it in the bag I took that day and decided to see how it fit and rode.

I'm not a big fan of "universal" anything, but it has become my everyday carry holster.

The thing is comfortable and holds my carry weapon securely IWB. Worth checking out if you want a decent holster that you don't need to sell your firstborn to afford.

That looks very similar to the holsters I use. THe brand on mine is Tagua. I have a small one for my LCP and a larger one for my GLock 26. Very easy on and off and comfortable as well. I think they were around $25 each.

Of course, there's no chance of a one-handed reholster with any of these...I think if it comes down to that, I'll either be wearing a coat (winter) or cargo shorts (summer), either of which a PM9 will slip into very comfortably.

Sportsmans Guide sells one very similar, but it has belt slots providing another securement option.

I personally will not use any holster relying on a metal clip.

I have had gun/holster come off the belt.

Seems will do the job very well. How is comfortable for big 1911.

Sorry folks - been away for a few days.

I'll post some pics of the holster with my EDC shortly.

Oh - it does have belt slots, but honestly it stays put pretty doggone well with the clip IWB.

So far, so good. My only beef is that the clip is so tight it's hard to get in my waistband - pretty much a non-issue.

To each their own. Some confuse "expensive" with "practical." When wearing drawstring shorts, a gun belt is simply not an option. For a 1-lb firearm like a Kahr PM-9, a holster with clip is the right way to go. A well-designed clip won't pull off with the gun, and should the clip break (possible, but unlikely), it's not catastrophic since it's IWB carry.

I always find it amusing when people get defensive about "how much" they spent for this or that. See it all the time in my line of work

I use a Bare Assets IWB holster for my everyday carry glock 27 at 3:30. Love it. When the gun must be handled just pull the holster with it for maximum safety by pulling the j clip out so it will clear the belt. Really comfortable, functional and inexpensive.

I am not defensive...just speaking as one who tried a bunch of cheap IWB holsters before I saw the light. Not that it matters, but off duty I rarely have anything more expensive than a 20 dollar Mikas pocket holster with a Glock riding in it. I had a Don Hume with a pocket clip.. Reached for it once outside of practice and the holster came with it.

No offense was meant! I was trying to point out that discussions of this nature always seem to divide between "cheap" and "expensive" because, let's face it, no one wants to admit to paying $100+ for a holster that turns out to be no good, impractical, or matched feature-for-feature by a cheaper holster. (And my drawer has at least a couple of "expensive" holsters that meet one or more of the preceding criteria!)

I've had a clip-style holster come out with the gun as well (actually, it worked its way out at a most inopportune time), so you're right, that's definitely a drawback of which one needs to be cognizant.

No offense taken my friend...none at all. I also have a BUNCH of holsters I rarely use. I have some very nice IWB holsters that see little use because no matter how I wear them, they are uncomfortable due to my build. I might post some of them up for sale to make room in the closet. I just wanted people to realize there is often a huge difference between something like Don Hume and quality like Milt Sparks. Have a great Sunday.
