Love Field

Post by Commander »

I know we've had this discussion before but.....I was at Love Field the other day as I approached the entry, I noticed that it had a sign that had words to the effect guns are prohibited on airport property per some regulation and that included concealed weapon permit holder. In previous discussions, I remember that it was said that you could carry in the non-secured areas of an airport...I wondered that since Love Field can't post 30.06 signs as it is government owned property were these signs an attempt to get around that prohibition?

I asked this question after a recent trip to Love, and being suprised with the sign upon my exit. (I entered via the baggage door which had no sign)

Here's hte thread I posted:

Basically, someone who used to work there spoke to LEO's who pretty much admitted the signs were bunk.

I think the administrators at Love want to try and ban handguns, even though they have no legal standing to do so.

As I mentioned in the other thread, most of the LEOs that I have talked to "TACITLY" agree that the signs there are meaningless, they quote the wrong section of the law and the airport is not posted at ALL entrances. Having said that, I must point out that even in the face of a LEO's agreement that something like that is unenforceable, they may be in the untenable circumstance where they are forced to act under city/department policy, and that may cause a great deal of grief.

I think it may be time for a few more letters to Laura Miller, the airport, and the city in general.

All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me
