WTS Demon Tactical Mil-Loc AR-15 Rear Takedown Pin

Post by THE ENGINEER »

WTS/WTT a Demon Tactical :reddevil (Seemed fitting) Mil-Loc Rear takedown pin. I'd like to sell for $30 or trade for HP .223 or 5.56 ammo. Prefer FTF, but will ship for an additional $5.

From their website:
The MIL LOC is the military/LE version of the quick pins. Utilizing the same patent pending technology as the quick pins The MIL LOC expands inside of the upper receiver pulling it tight against the lower receiver and aligns the bolt carrier group with the buffer tube which improve accuracy, reliability and function of the firearm. Using an empty brass 5.56 case operators can quickly remove the pin when field stripping and re-install even when wearing gloves.

Why aren't you keeping this pin? (I have been curious about how well these work).

I originally bought it to use with my POF billet lower, but it would not fit correctly due to the additional material around the takedown pin hole. The portion that rotates would bind on the receiver. I do not need it with the current lower I am running. I never set it up, so I can't say how well it will work. I think it will work well as long as you take the time to set it up correctly. I would measure the height of the takedown slot in your upper receiver with a pair of calipers, and then adjust the takedown pin so that when the collar is expanded it is the same. Measure the elongated portion (not across the section with the slot) as the colloar will expand in one direction and contract in the other.

One thing I noticed that they do not mention is if you don't align the slot in the expanding collar (copper colored piece) to face forward or toward the rear of the gun during installation, it will not expand in the correct direction to draw the receivers together. Just something to keep in mind during installation.

This pic represents an exageration of how the expanded collar would look. Notice how it is elongated vertically and narrowed horizontally, that is how you want it oriented when installed. Otherwise the fit will be looser, as it is expanding in the wrong direction.

Thanks for taking time to explain. POF lowers are really different. Also, those are nice pics!

No problem duggy. On POF Gen III lowers there is additional material that forms a small ridge that terminates at the center of the top of the rear takedown pin. This ridge will bind with the rotating portion of the Demon Tactical pin as it cams over.

Hello,

This is David at Demon tactical. We would be happy to refund the purchase price of your Mil-Loc if you want to send it back. We are sorry to hear that it doesn't work with POF lowers and are looking into a solution.

Thanks

That's very cool of you to offer a refund! I figured someone local could get good use out of it at a bit of a discount. I like to support small, innovative companies. I think it is unfair to these companies when customers return well made items that didn't work out due to unique unforseen circumstances. I do appreciate the offer, but will leave this posted so someone local can give it a go. Thanks again!

Thanks for your support!!! We are indeed a small company. The products we make are products we wanted for ourselves. After our friends started asking where we got them, we decided there was a market. So off we went.

I spend a good portion of my time monitoring the web just for this reason. Feedback always helps improve a product and customer service is part of anything you sell.
