What do you call the part where the grip screw screws in ??
Anyway, it's for my "new" Colt Gold Cup Trophy.. I was changing the grip screw when I noticed "that thing" is not attached/hooked up to the frame. It's the upper left side "thing" How do you replace that and how hard is it to replace?? Know where I can get them?? Anybody got an extra one they can sell..
Thanks,

I'm not sure what thing yer talking about...I have an idea what it may be...
But lemme go check...I always thought that that thing was on the right side of the grip/frame...
Is it the thing that the makers have to design a little notch so you can place the grip, but not cover the place where the "thing" is???
That "Post your 1911 beauties" might be a good place to look to confirm what thing your talking about...
BRB...

OK, let me answer my own question.. After a little research from Greg of Wilson Combat, it's called grip screw bushing and they are !.50 each... I ordered four and I only need one so if somebody needs some in the future, you know who to call.. Second, it screws on but it a tad long so it needs to be filed a little bit.. ( that's the another reason I ordered 4.. just in case I mess -up.. another alternative is have my 'smith install it for may be $30.00 ugh!)

It looks like the "thing" opposes the magazine release button where the trigger guard meets the grip...
If thats the thing you're talking about...
Some 1911 .45 guru will have the part name and or the technical specs of that part...
Hey, I still call some parts "things" too!
I'm good where it counts...

Easy to install Rey. Clean the threads real good & put a tiny drop of elmers glue on the threads that screw into the frame. That will make sure that the grip screw is always the one that unscrews instead of the bushing. You can do it.

Carry 24-7 or guess right.

Guess I got something to play around with tonight...
At least look at it, see what all the hub-bub is about...
I can see it now...
"ting"....fzzzzzzzzzzz....There it goes, flying across the room...Into the dark recesses of carpet fuzz!
And Steve coming into the forum tomorrow and posting...
"Guess What!"

Thanks longtooth.. It's the filing it down so it won't rub the mags w/o messing up that fine thread that's worrying me..longtooth wrote:Easy to install Rey.
