Another School Shooting

Post by Commander »

Once again, we have a tragic shooting in a "gunfree" school. Will the anti's ever learn that the BGs ignore the laws?

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the girl who was killed by this slimeball.

No. The worst ones are like religious fanatics and are impervious to logic and facts.

I have been thinking about what can be done to prevent these incidents. Obviously no further law or regulation can prevent them.

What do y'all think of metal detectors and armed guards for schools? Many urban schools have them already.

I think CHL holders should be allowed to carry in schools if they work or have legitimate business there. (They already are in Colorado.) But with CHL holders being fewer than 2% of the population, many schools would be unlikely to have a single CHL holder.

Very sad this happened again, makes you wonder what goes through some peoples' heads these days.

Metal detectors would go a long way to help prevent this, but the state likely wouldn't fork out a single penny to buy them.

One thing I just noticed, and I was going to start a new thread on this, but since someone else did, cool...

With all the recent shootings, this incident, and the murder of the officer here in Houston...

Has anyone seen any of the usual calls from the "anti" crowd for stricter this, and excusing that, type of talk???

We used to almost be braced for this inevitability, and we were always ready to counter it with our usual logic...

I have yet to see it, and since I haven't in regards to these two instances, I have mixed feelings about why we haven't...

I'm not exactly sure what to think about it just yet to be honest...

Is this a good thing???

Or, a bad thing???

Maybe there is no absolute to this, but I want to see if anyone else see this the way I do...

Sure...

That release looks to be way shorter, and generic in content, than some of the stuff I've seen in the past...

Even though it did have a specific preamble to the incident in Colorado...Their usual blithering is way less than it has been in the past...

Good find though...

Thanks. I didn't have to look hard.

I'm tempted to think they have a generic "gun tragedy" press release that they put out every time something happens. I tried to see if they had a similar one for another school shooting, but they don't archive them long.

How about free gun training and CHL's for active fulltime teachers. And let them carry on site.

Just a idea.

Since Isreal allowed, nay encouraged, teachers and parent volunteers to carry to school, there has not been a single attack on a school (and the only attack against a bus was a car bomb I think).
Reasonable gun control is hitting your target with the first shot.

It's troubling to think about all the school kids that are sitting ducks because the anti's have guaranteed the BGs that they will not encounter armed resistance at any school. Any nut that wants to make a "statement" or get their "15 minutes of fame" knows that a school is the place to do that.

It also doesn't help that the media give such incidents maximum coverage. Many of these nuts are publicity seekers and have delusions about "immortalizing" themselves.

Just a random thought,

What would happen if one CHLer carried into a school (forgot to take it off, felt he/she should today, whatever) and shot the BG before it got worse?

Would the Anti's come down on that person?
Would the Police arrest them for carrying on a school? (doesn't TX have a clause in the gun laws for this?)
How would the media treat the story?

I would like to think that the Media, Police etc would applaud the individual for stopping the situation, but I don't know if that would happen.

Would this perhaps shed some light for the foolishness of banning licensed carry in a school?

Prayers sent for the girl, her family, and friends.

I really think this sort of incidence is going to be more prevailant from now on, sorry to say.

With todays young men, (speaking generally, very broad), being taght from a very early age, to man down and fem up, and all these people in authority positions telling them not to fight back or defend themselves or others, the sociaty at large loses.

Use to be if a punk smart mouthed a person, and a man was around, that punk would get slapped down. Now, you go to jail.

Use to be you could and would discipline your children. Now you go to jail.

Use to be people would be embarased for dressing like a clown, looking like a clown. acting like a clown.

But then the liberals and ACLU took over some how, and we have been in a downward spiral ever since.

Until the American public figures out that this world is hard and cruel, and stands up to this goverment, we are in for a bad time of it.

They seem to be doing something pretty similar in southern Thailand, where the local Islamic insurgency has targeted public schools and teachers. Even com-lib CNN reported on it:
