As many of you know, I teach middle school special ed. One of my classes is specifically for students that have never learned to read.
Lately, I've been teaching vowel-r syllables. (Ex: er, ir, or, ar.)
One of the words they read was "hornet." I always ask for the meaning of the word, or if someone can use it in a sentence. (It is important to attach meaning to a decoded word.)
One of my students told me it was a bullet, and he was as serious as a heart attack.
I had to chuckle.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.

Here's a chart of ammo, showing how the .22 Hornet relates to other cartridges.

It's the favored cartridge for 'roo hunters Down Under. Lots of Australian Lee-Enfields were converted to .22 Hornet for varmints.lrb111 wrote:Here's a chart of ammo, showing how the .22 Hornet relates to other cartridges.
