Post by RPBrown »

We leave for Galveston about noon :thewave . Meeting up with some of my kids for dinner then to the hotel.Boarding the ship tomrrow for a 7 day cruise. This is the first time I have ever taken a full week of vacation at the same time (except when I was in the hospital :cryin ). Usually just a day or two at a time
I was going to take seamus up on his offer to store my XD while I am gone but the daughter is going to take it. (thanks again seamus).

When you get back please post a little report on your cruise ... my wife and I have never been on one but would like to (I think).
Bon Voyage!

Cruises are great.

The next one Mrs. Anygun and I might take is another one out of Galveston. We went to Jamaica (dump) Grand Cayman (beautiful) and Cancun (tourist trap).

If we do we will not get off the ship except for Cayman.

We have considered just going to the Caymans and stay at a resort.

You must give us a report and tell us all that you eat.

Just got home and checking in. The cruise was great. Gained abou 10 pounds though.Took a Carnival sponsered excursion at each of 3 stops (Jamaca, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel).
Cozumel excursion was a 4X4 ride tour through the jungle. Had a great time on this and weather was great.
Gand Cayman excursion was supposed to be swimming with the stingrays but the weather was so windy and waves so high it was cancelled so we took an island tour. I was a little disappointed in the tour but all in all had a good time
Cozumel excursion was to swim with the dolphins. This experience was awsome. By far the best of the 3.

Overall we had a good time. I would have liked to have spent more time in each port though. The downside for both of us was that at 60 years old, there was not a lot that sparked our intrests while on the ship. We dont drink, smoke or gamble (the casino was full of smokers and smelled nasty).

The upsides are there were some shows and musicals that were great. The food was good to great and you could eat 24 hours a day. The staff was great (wife loved the little animals made from towels each night) and catered to your needs.

As a first time cruiser, all we saw was tax and duty free shopping. No one said anything about an $800.00 limit on tax and duty free items. We came in just under the limit.

All told, it ws an experience that I am glad I did and had a good time. I would recommend doing at least 1 cruise in your lifetime. My next will be an Alaskan.

Glad to hear y'all made it back safe and sound. It's good to hear that you had a good time on your cruise. The wife and I almost took a cruise with the same destinations a few years back, but decided to head to our cabin in Colorado instead. Now time's are tough, and money is too tight for us to go on a cruise. I sure wish we would have gone when we had the chance. :banghead: Oh well... One day we'll make it on that ship. At least I know now that it is worth the price. :woohoo
