Alumagrips
Alumagrips
What are your thoughts? Yea or nay?
Nay. Wood checkered only for me. Dont care for anything slick, plastic, or aluminium. My .02cents though.

AlumaGrips - Yea!
I'm a convert.
I put AlumaGrips on my Kimber Ultra Carry a few months ago.
Love them.
My Kimber is stainless, with a matte slide and frame.
I went for the slimline grips because my hands are small. I went for lightweight because the Kimber is my EDC gun and it's worn 12-16 hours per day. Any weight savings is appreciated.
I opted for the smooth grips. My preferred cover garment is a heavyweight silk camp shirt. The factory checkered plastic grips would occassionaly hang up on the grips, causing the gun to print. The smooth grips allow shirt fabric to easily move over the grips when I bend or twist.
I don't have big issues with having to draw the gun with wet hands. The grips have enough friction on my hands for a secure grip. Unlike some of the tacky rubber grips (such as Pachmyer), if my hand position is a little off on draw I can still adjust my grip.
One unexpected plus is the grips are essentially the same color as the rest of the gun, sort of a flat silver-gray. When the gun is in it's IWB holster, the grip doesn't contrast with the frame or slide. A momentary flash of the gun because of inadvertant uncovering doesn't register as a gun. My wife thought I'd shifted my cell phone to the other side of my belt.
I hope this helps. YMMV a lot. (fixed it. Remember the 10 yr old daughter rule.)

I like the feel of the Alumagrips over wood or rubber and have a few sets although none are mounted on a gun at this moment.
Reason... I have found that micarta grips offer the best of both worlds. Grippier than wood but lighter weight than aluminum.

I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961
HV, I have been looking at some of those & wondering about them.

LT,
I've got the Micarta "Gatorback" grips on mine. I like them as I don't get any chafing when worn without T shirt as I do when wearing checkered---also easy to grasp and hold.
My 2 cents----------

After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good he started roaring.
He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him.

Thanks bdsnooks, I have been looking at them too. Not unhappy & really don't need to spend $$$s just to have a new look.

Here is another convert to the alumagrips. I picked a set up on the cheap and really like them. The origonal grips on my Kimber Carry Pro got slippery when wet, the alumagrips do not.
