It appears from the article that the victim took a beating before being able to (finally) shoot the guy...but before you get to that part of the story it says the victim wasn't injured...go figure!

"Could" fall under the Castle Doctrine? Really? Sounds like a clear-cut case to me. BG show up with a gun demanding money, shoots owner's "friend" in the leg, and gets his body temperature lowered by the owner.

Only fishiness is whether they knew one another. Perhaps the BG wanted money from that guy for a specific reason. Doesn't excuse the use of the BG gun, but may cloudy the issues somewhat.

Not injured.. but oh... he was beaten.. and the dude was at the victim's house, demanding money with a gun.

Could fall in the Castle Doctrine? Lets see, he beats him up and shoots the friend in the leg while they try to retreat. It makes no difference if he was at his home or at the mall parking lot. It is a case of self defense, IMHO.

I wonder if its because the guy according to the story, a pretty long record or there are other details this story left out. On the surface it seems pretty straight forward.
