Merry Christmas

Post by longtooth »

Matthew & Luke both have parts of the Christmas story.
Here it is in cronological order w/ very little comment.
I read it from the Scripture to our folks every yr.
Merry Christmas.

Christmas Story in Chronological Order

Luke 1:5-56
1. Angel appears to Zacharias & Mary to announce the birth of John the Baptist & Jesus.
2. Mary conceives by the Holy Spirit & goes to Elizabeth’s house for three months

Matt. 1:18-25
3. Joseph finds out at her return. I believe she told him.
4. Angel appears to Joseph.

Luke 2: 1-21
5. To Bethlehem for birth of Jesus & angelic announcement to the shepherds.

Matt. 2:1-12
6. Someone took them into their home. Probably after hearing the shepherds give testimony of their worship.
7. Wise men come to Jerusalem, see Hearod, find Jesus & worship him.

Luke 2:22-39
8. Remained in the Bethlehem / Jerusalem area. After 8 days He was circumcised, then 33 days later Mary returns for her ceremonial purification. Lev. 12:2-7
9. It is about 12 miles from Bethlehem to Jerusalem. Jerusalem to home in Nazareth is 60 miles. Going around Samaria is about 85 miles.

They showed this video at church last Sunday. It was amusing because it frames the story of the birth of our Savior in the context of Facebook. But, it wasn't just amusing. I was moved by it.

Yes, LT--Appreciate the time line and references. Even those of us familiar with the story sometimes lose some of the details and time lines.

TAM: Great video. Whole family loved it. Any idea where I can find the recorded musical track? Not a version I've heard, but would like to get my hands on it...
