New Dan Wesson Bobtail in here!!!

Post by dws1117 »

As promised here are some pictures.

My first impression is very favorable. It fits my hand like no other gun ever has, this includes standard 1911's. The fit and finish is closer to what one would expect of a higher end gun instead of a production gun. There is hardly and discernible slide movement, either up and down or side to side.

Everything is well blended. The grip safety, which is the Ed Brown memory groove safety, could be blended a touch better but it isn't bad. I've seen far worse. The thumb safety is very smooth and has that good "snick" sound.

The front strap checkering is listed as 20LPI and fairly aggressive. I'll see how it does does during shooting. It may need to toned down slightly.

The Novak style night sights are bright. Front is dovetailed into the slide. They both have Trijicon printed on them.

The trigger pull is crisp and seems to be between 4 and 5 lbs. May need a little attention as I've gotten too spoiled by the trigger job that was done on my Springfield.

All in all it seems to be everything advertised. For me it seems to be the perfect pistol. Final judgment will be reserved for the range because the proof is in the pudding.

Now the pictures.

Very nice. Looking forward to your range report.

Nice pistol

Oddly enough, I just picked up my brand new Dan Wesson Classic Commander Bobtail yesterday. And just the same as you... I Love it. I've never had any pistol fit me better. There is a little custom work I'm going to do to it as my free time permits, but I couldn't ask for a better pistol. Good luck with yours.

Now you must buy a second one just to satisfy your left hand. ;-)

Hey dws:

Congrats! on your new pistol. That is GOOD LOOKING!!!

If you haven't planned your Saturday activities yet, we are having our monthly IDPA match at PSC this Sat. the 25th. Might be a good time to put the Dan Wesson to work!.

There will also be a classifier for those interested.
